There certainly are parts of Texas where this is true, but it was completely different out west. The were anti-illegal immigration but very pro-legal immigration and the Hispanic culture permeates west Texas.

Nothing I ever saw in Texas though prepared me for the animosity and openness of the racism displayed in New England, particularly Boston and the richer portions of Vermont, NH and Maine...you know, old money.
