Talk about well-earned. Just for the record, on her way to the championship, Keys knocked off five seeded players including four in the Top Ten: Collins, Rybakina, Swiatek, and Sabalenka. You can't make up a much tougher draw than that.

Beat Svitolina too, who looks ike she's gaining traction to the player she once was after giving birth

Championship point for Madison.

She does it. Madison, Australian champion.

Damn Arya Sabalenka throwing a tantrum breaking her racket

So happy for Madison. And couldn't be happier to see Sabalenka lose. She's immature and makes the matches unwatchable with her over the top yelling every damn point.

I woke up this morning and just felt happy for her. I bet the first thing Madison did this morning was pinch herself.

To the nice @Pavel Buchnevich guy, I think it's more embarrassing to constantly demonstrate that you still don't understand what Sinner is accused of. It would be a good starting point to understand what the debate is about.
Nothing I said is wrong. I didn’t say he started injecting himself with steroids through a needle before matches like a cartoon might animate.

But what happened might be judged as doping when CAS makes their decision in April. And I think if that happens, that a suspension and revocation of his titles is on the table, as usually would be in a situation like that.

Finally watched the Keys-Sabalenka match.

As I suspected might happen, Keys just had it all tournament. When she's on, she can beat anyone and dominate the field, as she did. Hasn't been able to put it all together for a full tournament yet on the biggest stage, but she finally did. Feels fitting that it would happen at least once in her career. This is her revenge for some of the other tournaments she arguably should've won.

Sabalenka didn't play anywhere near her best, but part of that was Keys putting her on the defensive.

The chance of CAS taking away his titles is zilch. Not going to happen.

Agreed. But it's pretty clear there's doping going on in pro tennis. Sinner's excuse reminds me of ones all the cyclists used in the 90s and 2000s. the trace amounts sound more like ill timed administering of the drugs than an accident. Then there's Swiatek as well.

I'm a Sinner fan but the one thing I didn't like is how Halep and some players got banned without even the ability to argue for their case until years later, this also applies to Iga as well. I don't stan tennis players because I think that's relatively dumb considering how big the player pool is but I can understand the anger from some tennis fans. That being said, I don't see how someone can root for Sasha Zverev over Sinner tonight.

I doubt the appeal will re-litigate the doping allegations, so much as determine whether "strict liability" means that though the player did not cheat, he is, according to the rules, still responsible for anything that happens to his body. I'm guessing that if he is banned for any length of time, it will be of short duration, not long enough for him to miss the next GS, the French Open. Could easily be wrong, though.

I don't find Zverev likable, but I think the reputation he's gotten is a little unfair. A lot of people hate him because of allegations that've never been proven true. Unless something is proven true, I think it's best not to play judge, jury, and executioner in evaluating the personal lives of athletes. At least I think it's unfair to assume the truth. Maybe it's a "bad look" to his persona that it's even a topic, but assuming he's a domestic abuser is unfair.

I find Sinner unlikable. The doping rubs me the wrong way. I think he's been treated differently than other players. Whether he's actually going to lengths to cheat isn't something I need to delineate over. There are rules. He didn't follow them. He should've been banned because of that. He essentially got off because of his stature in the sport. I really don't like that.

This is the same type of reason why I don't like Ohtani and the scandal he dealt with in MLB. They essentially found a fall guy for him in a situation where they would've banned some backup middle infielder for the same set of facts.

As for who'll win, probably Sinner, but I continue to think one of these times Zverev is gonna have it go his way in a grand slam final. Random chance that you play well or your opponent plays terrible is bound to go your way at some point. Would not be surprised if this is the time, even if I think Sinner is playing the better tennis.

Well, there is that $217,820 fine that the German courts ruled Zverev had to pay to the state and charities. Personally I have no problem whatsoever thinking he is a scumbag. I detest the guy.

I find Sinner quite likeable, actually.

Could be a great match. Does Sinner's mild third set cramping against Demon suggest a problem Zverev can exploit if he keeps Jannik on court long enough? Will Zverev's nerves be up to the challenge against a guy who does more things better than he does? Can Sinner drop shot Zverev to death? Can Zverev continue first serving at 72%? My guess: Sinner in four sets.

While I don't disagree about the part about possibly being treated differently, I would blame Sinner more on the fact the guy brought in a known doper to his team and then had to cut him off immediately from his team once the news came to light. Him and his team did have something ready as soon as the 2 positive tests came up as to why it happened and these associations have no reason to protect these top players as much as people think. It makes them look bad in the process as well.

It's a f***ing shame because Zverev coming back after that horrific ankle injury would probably be one of the most loved guys on tour if he was able to win a title. Almost everyone would root for him v Sinner tonight if he didn't have the outside the court stuff, similar to Maddie Keys last night.

Backhand to backhand exchanges are pretty even, but when they switch to forehand to forehand rallies, Sinner has a definite advantage.

Zverev didn't really make Sinner work hard enough for that set. His serve is the only thing that kept it interesting.

First serve percentage has diminished for both players in the second set, not exactly scintillating tennis overall, though on serve at 4-3 Zverev.

Zverev regardless of this match needs a hard look at his forehand. He has an elite backhand and elite serve, his net play is mediocre so he still needs another weapon in his tool box to be consistent grand slam winner/finalist

Oh, my, what a lucky net cord at just the right time. Two big serves later and the set is Sinner's 7-6.

Sinner knows Zverev can't make an indent on his service games, hasn't gotten one break point at all which is allowing Sinner to play freer than he normally would imo
