Did I see 62 goals in his last 82 games? Stellar.

Would have been something to see him chase 50 in a 56 game season.

Still, that pace shared by @Sypher04 above is something else.

If Leafs find some playoff success and M & M both find extensions at some point, they will both find themselves in the Hall of Fame someday. Both could even find themselves with a number of season and even career franchise records.

He's actually already almost half way to the franchise record for goals. Sundin holds it at 420, and Matthews could hit 200 by the end of the season. Wild.

He would have hit 50 in 50 if not for that wrist injury. He has reached a new level this year

Watching him play every game this season I thoroughly believe he had a real shot at it. As it stands he's still having the best season we've probably seen from a Leafs player in goal scoring.

Just thought I would lay out some info on Matthews defensively against the other top centers out there, including those known for their D.

Getting sick of folks saying he's not somehow good defensively.

Nice work. For this season I'd probably just stick to intra-division rankings though as they're basically all their own leagues this year. Last I checked, Danault was the only center with better defensive numbers than Matthews in the division.

You are correct (on both counts really...maybe I should have done 2017-2020) I tried just doing divisional for a while but it seems hopeless when doing full league-wide is so mainstream.

Yeah, I haven't seen any stat source that sorts by division, so it's a bit tedious work. The easiest way I can think of is to just download naturalstattrick and sort by teams in excel but that's not really worth it for periodic updates. I always download their end of season stats as a backup because these sites drop like flies.
