Purest scorer in a Leafs uniform since Vaive and it might be argued he is already more prolific due to his consistency. If he chooses, he will have all Leaf goal scoring records and be a captain who raises a Cup. Dramatically improved his stick handling and drive with the puck in the last two years, his defensive game ensures he is a constant threat on the ice even when he isn't in the slot.

Would be nice to see him use his size and strength more often and it doesn't need to be hits. When the room on the ice disappears, does he?

Most complete player this century. Elite skater. Great face off man. Top tier centre blocking shots. Best stick and defence steals since #13. Uses his body more and more. Needs to be meaner. Should be Captain. Did I say has a great shoot and can score. Needs to avoid cross bars.

Just noticed this but Matthews has the same amount of even-strength points as McDavid (and Draisaitl) in 3 and 4 less games played respectively and with 2 less minutes of ice time per game.

He's also been just as good as them on the PP this season.

Looks like those guys should be the 5 highest paid forwards in the game as they seem to be validating their contracts.
