He might have a bit of a hand injury from the Ottawa series too but who isn’t banged up to some degree in the playoffs?

Also. If he were legitimately hurt to a serious degree, why would he be taxed on the PK to put his body on the line to absorb more punishment.

The more you look at his struggles the more it’s a confidence issue. He doesn’t really want the responsibility of transporting the puck. Put that in the context of a Michael Jordan. Imagine best in show not wanting the ball. It’s a confidence thing.

And during the post-game interview, he tried to keep it cool but you could tell he was shaking when answering questions about his production only to attempt to shift focus about how he sees his value being more than just a goal-scorer.

The deflection was breathtaking.

I have a little hope from nylander, a little less in Bérubé, and some in f***ing Benoit.

This is the 2nd time we’ve played Florida and everytime 34 is out there with 16 I just don’t expect anything. I get pissed at nylander in real time because I have expectations for him to dominate things. I like seeing the bottom six try (and do nothing lol).

Ive relinquished all expectations of him this game. Goals? Nope. Assists? Nah. Defence? No Bueno. Physicality? Nada

Go out there and have your cardio with 16 as it’s the last time.

He could have said 'it effing sucks, I pride myself in scoring goals to help the team but I'm trying to find ways to contribute all over the ice, wherever I can to help the team..." and that would have been more relatable to me. Show me you're frustrated and a relatable human and we would be more in it together - player and fanbase.

The cool, calm facade is not relatable. I don't think it actually helps him.

My expectations of him scoring in Game 6 is kinda at the Max Domi level. Anything is possible but unlikely.

6 foot 3. 225 lbs and is the softest player per pound on this team.

Not capable of putting his team on his back and carry them to a win.

The leafs have given this guy everything he wants

The reason why I know this year is no different then any other year, your 3 game winners in rd 1 vs Ottawa were from domi, benoit, and patches. Not Nylander, marner and matthews. And in 5 games vs Florida matthews has zero goals. Nothing will change with matthews.

Game 5 goal-scorers for Panthers with the exception Bennett’s were all depth.

No problem there. But that stat for Matthews among 100+ players who have scored 400 or more is…heartbreaking in its demonstration of apathy.

Like it feels like betrayal.
