They need to accept they're probably going to get hosed in any trade involving him and just do it. But if he refuses, I don't know.

And the issue with Marner taking a NMC is that they already gave Nylander and Matthews NMC's. No way he or his agent accept a situation that guarantees he's the first guy out of town if something goes wrong.

That's 6 extremely deep playoff runs in 1p years.

In a cap world that is a modern dynasty or as close as you can get.

And yes .79 sucks when Stamkos was expected to be the Bolts best or 2nd best player.

Leafs dont have kucherov (better player than anyone our franchise has had in its history), point, hedman, or vasilevsky type players to let Matthews give us a ~.85 ppg

Not really. It's a pretty big drop off, and it's practically useless if you're not at least driving play or generating chances at an elite level which Stamkos barely did during those runs.

Kuch in the same time span has a 1.12 points per game.

Look for some 1 year rentals, go for McDavid the next year. I think Marner and Nylander are enough to entice McDavid. If they let Marner and Tavares walk and then trade Matthews? The Leafs look worse than Edmonton.

Honestly, I agree. I'm just saying if they let 3 of the Big Four go in one season, I don't think we have a chance of drawing McDavid. We need more firepower than Edmonton has with just Drai. Nylander alone isn't enough.

I was a big Stamkos guy back in the day but he was a big playoff underachiever for years and was buoyed by a better supporting cast.
