Player Discussion Auston Matthews (Captain Edition)

Everyone is world world knows he has had back issues for a very very long time ,, what folks don't know is what is causing his lifelong issues .. i would assume da leafs have a decent idear what da real back issue is otherwise they wouldn't have signed him .. you have to assume it is something they think is fixable .. but why is it no one has been able to fix it? .. he has seen da worlds best backs docs for pain management .. yet it continues to occur .. i have some back pain too and I have had ultrasounds and scans on a couple occasions over my life when pain got to 6/10 level that ultimately go away with rest/steriods .. all they showed was inflammation in my lower back which cleared up after rest/steriods .. like i said to me i would be looking to move him this summer .. he doesn't know when da pain is gonna hit him .. it just shows up
Is this the same shit Eichle had? I don't remember the surgery he got that Buffalo didn't wanna make happen.... Or was Eichles thing a neck issue?

What I find curious is the game in the playoffs last year that they described as beast mode, heck I even thought he had some Gilmour in him when he was hustlin, banging, back checking, he was a beast as the media called it and by far his best playoff game he ever played.what came next was that he was out of the lineup,I always wondered if he got sick from exerting himself in a way he had never done before and drained the tank, but we will probably never know the truth.

You think? I find he looks slow as fck and has no quickness to his game at all.
He's practically walking by the 30 second mark of most of his shifts.

I have no idea what it will take to fix this, or if it even can be, but this current version of the highest paid player needs to be shutdown because he isn't helping to the degree he should be.

3 power play points and 7 5v5 points so far is OK, but the Leafs aren't handing him all those dollars to be OK! He should be leading team in all categories

A fully re-energized Matthews would give the Leafs the means to put the Panthers behind them. How do we find that guy?

Seems to be injured an awful lot though eh? Seems to be almost every playoff don't ya feel? Where he magically drops from a 69 goal scorer to being tied with Domi for goals? Seems weird...

Yes, I'm sure once the seasons over Berube will announce Matthews played through a broken nose, toe, leg, fibula, tongue and his dog got kicked out of his little doggy hotel. So we will feel some sort of relief.

I think the hard truth is that Matthews is not a big game player. Honestly. He was invisible during the 4 nations being Captain of the USA. Where as Marner found another gear and finished with 100+ points and honestly has looked great in the playoffs.

Matthews Seems to be the rare superstar that peaks in the regular season and doesn't have another gear in the playoffs when every inch needs to be battled for, he shys away from every extracurriculars.

I think he might even be an anxious dude. He might have to deal with what's between the ears before he can succeed. The post season you need to battle for every inch and not shy away from conflict, Matthews has shied away from conflict or confrontation of any type his entire career.
He’s a showcase player. He’s never played for championship. He’s never really been on a team. He has practised his entire life so it’s really not that unreasonable that he’s not a guy that stepped up in the playoffs
I said all that it’s still quite likely he is injured

Does U18 count? He did pretty good in that tournament as the US won gold in 2014. But Nylander stole the show that year as he had more than twice as many points.

Ok so your wrists are shot. Time to adjust and drive to the net and get the greasy goals.
Yeah but that's where the big, ornery guys hang out...F&^* that!!!

Effort isn’t the problem, intensity isn’t the problem, it’s extremely likely the guy is injured. Maybe after the series the Leafs will reveal all the injuries like most teams do and we’ll know.

He didn't go visit that mysterious specialist in Germany of all places this November for fun. He's almost certainly dealing with a lingering injury/health issue.

That said, his mixed historical record in the playoffs makes it hard to give him the pass though. This is supposed to be THE year for the core - 2/4 forwards may not be returning so this is it (at least for now)

But its true .. dude has HUGE issues with pain in his back .. dude has been taking shots for many many years to keep playing .. Leafs drafted him and they knew what his back issues were when they made him da #1 pick .. da real issue is Leafs have not explained da issue to any of us .. so folks don't understand it .. he requires rest to heal .. in playoffs he takes shots .. da big issue is has also hurt his hand too .. so he is dealing his major injury issues .. don't expect anything from him this playoffs outside what you see now .. you likely don't like my comment but what da h*ll is he gonna do about it .. Leafs need to come clean this summer .. to me I would be trying to trade him .. no doc can figure it out .. he has seen da worlds best back docs
Trade first, details later

If true, he needs to retire after this contract expires.

Ryan Whitney said on the spitting chiclets podcast a few weeks ago, Matthews got stem cell treatment when he went to Germany to see Dr. Muller-Wohlfahrt.
I did it too...but in Dallas and it works...just takes about 6-8 months to fully work and that's without any stress on the back for me. You probably noticed that he was on a bit of a heater after he came back from the 2nd LTIR and that's because the stem cells work wonders on the inflammation...but only for a short while. It then takes the stem cells a long time to go to work fixing the problem. He should go right after the season is over and get another shot and it will help a lot more during the summer without getting hit constantly.

How much did it cost you?
I wanted it for my knee, but 30 grand

Fasting can also create stem cells and heal the body naturally
Not many if you're over 25yrs old. I know a lot about the whole stem cells and you gradually make less and less of them...that's why babies are so soft and "new"....a baby's will double a stem cell every 24hrs....a teenager in 36hrs and a 60yr old in 72hrs....it means the difference of about 1 Billion cells for a baby in 30 days and less than 2 thousand for an old fart.

I did it 2x...first time in 2020 and I got 9 shots for about 14K USD and then screwed my back up again 2 years ago and had 3 shots for about $6K USD. If you want the clinic I went to and more info...just DM me and I would be happy to give you the info.
Check your dm

Coming back to the discussion in hand. Stem cell doesn't work for everyone

Also Matthews got his done around 6-8 months ago.

Any other player would get benefit of the doubt. Reality is even when he was healthy he wasn't producing much
