He has had this back problem since he was at least 12 when I originally heard about it when we played his team in final of a Boston spring tournament .. I don't know what da issue/problem is .. he played with and against da 97s when all da elite AAA kids played on these spring teams ,, anywho he has been managing it for a very long time and Leafs knew about this issue when they drafted him as he even missed time as a kid .. i was always told only rest could heal his issues .. i always felt bad for him as pain is a real issue for himIf this is true, why didn’t he just have the surgery last off-season and get it over with, so he’s healthy come the playoffs

You realize he could be traded for another center?
Now, of course he isn't being traded, but $13mm in space can buy you the best free agent center and leave you 3mm+ space to put towards another asset.
As I said, he isn't being traded. The free agency qmcebtre quality is pretty poor though. By my memory the only true 1C has been Tavares, but definitely an acception to the rule.
Below that you've got a group of 2Cs like Kadri.
If the team were to trade him they'd need a legit 1C coming back unless they were preferring to blow it all up (and I got a hard time believing mlse will allow that to happen anytime soon
Wonder if it’s his back or wrist, I guess we’ll find out once the playoffs are over. He’s got to be injured, he’s been useless out there.
Whatever expectations you have of Matthews showing up in the Florida series, probably time to turn them down.
Knies looks far more dangerous.Domi looks more dangerous in the O-Zone than Matthews
