The fact that :

1) He hit that many posts;
2) He could not beat Binnington in the 4N GMG

shows the minuscule difference between a 70 goal scorer and someone who scores half that amount. It's crazy when you think about it.

Feels like this exact post is made every other season.

The guy is just fragile.

Matthews is a shell of himself this season. Just facts he just looks like any other first line center out there not like a guy who is competing for top centers in the league like usual. Most obvious is the fact he can't shoot at all. Misses the net every time which for a guy who can snipe from anywhere is baffling.

He also just straight up looks like he is not having fun at all. The 4 nations finals was the most engaged I saw him this season by far. He is just going through the motions right now with the Leafs. Pissing off Leaf fans.

Either go on LTIR and let us add at the TDL or play like yourself

It's his one off year since coming into the league. Not ready to talk about his game in the past tense yet.

I think it’s more than a bad season. He’s had injury concerns his entire career. I’m a leaf fan and watch almost every game. I actually think he was a more dominant player in his 60 goal season than his 69 season. He relied on his shot a lot last year and guys feeding him the puck.

Hes completely revolutionized how players shoot the puck. Every upcoming kid that is a goalscorer knows how to utilize the toe drag shot.
