Austin Czarnik

Thought he looked awful last night, this doesn't mean I don't think he is going to be a solid player but this is why there is an AHL. He needs more seasoning.

So far this year I have seen just about every rookie that has had one good pre season game get praised by someone and informed that he should be in the lineup instead of Kelly/Talbot. Those players have proven that they are NHL players and have a level of consistency that most rookies don't, especially real rookies just coming out of college, juniors or a European league.

Let them mature in the minors and then get a chance, I'm not in the "play all the rookies because we are gonna suck" camp, I think this is a playoff team and they should be proceeding with that expectation. A year in Providence will only help Czarniks game.

As an aside an not really on thread, I think the Bruins will try to resign Kelly to a cap friendly deal next year to help the rookies, as DKH mentioned Kelly is almost an on ice coach and will help younger players learn how to play in the NHL. That said you don't need Talbot and Kelly, I think Kelly still has much more to bring to the table than Talbot.

Agree 99%. Think both Czarnik and Vatrano should be sent down to PRO for seasoning and they look like they have a chance of becoming solid NHLers down the road.

The one thing I don't agree with is that Talbot should be in the lineup over Randell, J-Kemp, even Blidh or Rinaldo.

Agree, Randell is a solid player who can fight, the type of tough player teams look for today over a traditional enforcer. I fully expect them to lose Randell if sent down and if that is to keep Talbot I would be very disappointed.

wait til the outcry when Koko puffs gets sent down

If Khokhlachev sent down, he will be back up during season. This is a non-playoff team and opportunities should present. Kelly, Talbot, Connolly, Hayes will make lack of scoring all too obvious but meanwhile we can enjoy key faceoffs as Claude claws for one point.

Agreed. Koko may have zero points this preseason, but he has shown greatly improved speed and quickness. He is also much stronger on the puck than Czarnik. His skill hasn't shown as much, but everyone knows he has that already.

Talbot should be the one placed on waivers, guy brings very little to the table besides experience and we have lots of that already on the 4th line with Kelly.

I'm totally on the cut Talbot train.

But on a team with a lot of young faces, having a veteran on the 4th who was HUGE in winning a Cup isn't a bad thing to have for young guys (hopefully) in the playoffs for the first time.

I'm sorry but Koko, aside from looking quicker than last year has done nothing to earn a spot. You expect a guy who publicly cries "poor me" to show that he's ready to earn it and not be outperformed by 2 kids in their first pro camp, not just say "hey everyone knows he's skilled". He also needs to show he's capable of adapting and playing the wing, b/c he certainly hasn't outperformed Spooner or quite frankly Kelly or Kempainen. By my count that puts him as the 7th best performing center in this camp when you include Czarnik. I don't care if you're skilled, if you're not doing anything with it, it doesn't do anyone any good.

I would rather cut Talbot because I think he will make it through waivers and they can bring him back up if necessary. If they waive Randell, I think someone will grab him.

Cool, so you must have inside information on how he performed at practice? And if koko has done nothing to earn a spot why hasn't he been demoted?

Got to think the roster will be more fluid this year than in the last stretch- wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of these kids back up. Between czarnik and Heinen the future looks bright down the middle in the post spooner/koko wave.

I think it'd both a showcase for trade options and a PR-adjacent response to that pointless flurry of articles following his interview.

Or that the bruins recognize he's a proven talent at the AHL level and believe it's a matter of time confidence will come at the NHL, first call up if any of the three top centers go down, has a natural skillset bruins are missing in the system, has shown a real improvement in his game/work ethic physical and mental we aren't privy to see in on a day to day basis.

Now what about this Czarnik fella?

It is time to bring up the kid

Have him center the 3rd or 4th line.

So many of these undersized/speedy players in the league helping their team making an impact

The game has evolved from clutch and grab to open ice speed/skill

It can't be any worse the way it is now

I`m ok with it as long as fans here don`t get their arses up in the air if he brings energy but nothing changes as far as results.

Lots of people scream for the kids, many forget that kids make kid mistakes and this team can`t afford any more additional mistakes

Yeah they're saviors when they are called up but they're **** when they're sent back down again. :shakehead
