AUDIO: 1/14 Neely on Bruins slump

Can Charas' contract be bought out?

Oh good lord.........Spoken like someone who forgets or wasn't around to know what is was like when we lost Bourque.

Am I saying Chara is Bourque? No

However if you think this team would be better without Chara for NO return, then you are very very wrong.

Depends what you do with the cap space... trading Thornton for basically nothing ended up great.

Can't stand those two ass-clowns. Throughout the long hours that they're on they analyze, they dissect, they discuss every nuance of The Patriots and the NFL. This is for 95% of their time on air. Then, when they momentarily shift their attention to the Bruins they want fast answers and they give fast excuses. They know next to nothing about hockey, or about the Bruins draft picks, the Providence B's and/or anyone rumored to be on the trade block yet they want all the answers from Cam just like that. It's almost insulting IMO that they spew their opinions, take no calls, have no real discussion and move on.

I haven't listened to that show, or any sports radio, in over a year (save "The Hockey Show," which has its own issues).

You're entirely correct in your assessment of those two. The only reason Cam does weekly spots is to promote the club on the radio station that carries Bruins games. Doubtless it is a contractual requirement.

You learn nothing about the team you didn't already know, while suffering through Felger's foolishness. The exercise is a complete waste of time.

Truth is every member of this defense is being asked to do/play more than they are capable of doing/playing.

Unless/until Sweeney gets some real help on the back end they'll just have to keep doing their best.

An untenable situation that can't continue.

My guess is that Sweeney packages Loui with prospects/picks, or perhaps makes two separate deals, to acquire the defensive help the Bruins obviously need.

Ideally, he'll find two legitimate NHL defensemen and begin to rebuild a blueline in desperate need of a makeover.

Nah, I was referring more to the "Chara will not be here next year", which just smacks of posturing and is kinda ridiculous.

That's me you're calling out, and you're right.

I wasn't "posturing," and normally I don't make those kind of definitive predictions.

My point is, I just can't see the Bruins going through another season with Chara as their number one defensman, especially if the blueline around him is so poor.

If legit NHL D help is brought in, then my opinion might change.

This is arguably the worst defence 1-6 since he's been here.
It easily is. In 06 he started with Brad Stuart and Paul Mara, finished with Ward, Wideman, Ference, and Bobby Allen who was very good before he got hurt. There's not another top 4 on the team today.

I just have a hard time believing Sweeney will let him twist in the wind for the next 2 seasons. Either get him help or trade him.
