Atmosphere these Playoffs has been Pathetic

I miss it. It will always be Skyreach Centre to me. It’s sad it’s just collecting dust awaiting demolition. Come playoff time that barn was obnoxiously loud lol.

As you mentioned it was very close quarters, with a low metal roof that made sound bounce around everywhere. Apparently it was bad for concerts, but it was amazing for playoff crowd ambiance.

Skip to 24:25 for Laraque’s scrum.

It was so LOUD.

25:00 Ducks coach has the Thousand-Yard Stare over how loud the crowd is:laugh:

I’m pissed they didn’t build the new arena with crowd ambiance in mind.

Didn’t Rexall have to adjust the goal horn because of how loud the fans were?

Make no mistake , Oiler fans are just as loud now, the arena is just bigger. Rogers is the loudest arena left in the playoffs the Blues and Jets also are great

That Jets atmosphere in the playoffs with the white out is amazing. You can crap on the market or how players don't want to go there, but those fans are awesome and they deserve their team. I hope they never lose it again.
Winnipeg was solid last night, but Dallas is on another level. Definitely the most hostile environment right now.

Yet despite being able to tell it was nuts the broadcast was still very muted.

Dear NHL, we WANT to hear the crowd and feel part of the action. Quit muting the crowd noises so we can listen to commentators make small talk.

Jets had one of the best atmospheres of the playoffs thus far with half the crowd size. Good for them.
Half the crowd size?

15,200-ish vs. what? 17,000 to 20,000?

For crowds that size, the difference in noise level is immaterial. What makes the 15,200 crowd noisier than any other (including Edmonton) is a combination of two things - the structure of the arena, and the enthusiasm of the fans.

Was paying a compliment that a crowd much smaller in count can rival the larger arenas aside from perhaps a Montreal, nothing more. On TV it looked electric.

Leafs crowd is nothing like it used to be. Hardcore fan has been priced out.
I was at a Leafs game at Maple Leaf Gardens, back in 1982. I don't know what their crowds are like now, but they were pretty underwhelming 43 years ago.

First, more people were wearing suits and ties than weren't, and that just ain't right. Clearly corporate season ticket holders.

Second, when the Leafs scored, they made an incredible noise. For about 1.5 seconds. Then they sat down again. And stayed that way. I've never seen anything like it. Leafs' fans cheering was kind of like the laugh track on a lousy '70s sitcom.

But you're right about the hardcore fan being priced out, and that's a bloody shame.
