Didn’t know where to put this but it looks like game 1 is going to be on Sunday instead of Saturday. A bit surprised by that.
Why are you surprised? The final regular season game is on Thursday. I can't recall seeing a first round series start with a team only having one day's rest.

Until proven by the leafs (i.e. they win a series in 4 or 5 games) no series should be seen as an easy out for this team. They haven't demonstrated the ability to make series that should be an easy out, an easy out (albeit they've only really had 2 chances to do as such).
Exactly. There's no such thing as an easy out in the playoff these days and considering our history, I'm a bit surprised by the amount of arrogance ITT. We haven't even clinched 1st for one thing, people really need to calm down. Hopefully they'll nail it down tomorrow and sure, we should be able to handle Ottawa without too much trouble but that's only if we play the way we can which we have a history of not doing. Recent playoff history has a number of 1st round matchups where a massive favorite got sent home so I wouldn't celebrate anything until it's been earned.

Ottawa is being massively overrated simply because people love to crap on the Leafs. The prior versions of this team certainly deserved it. This version of the team is not the same animal. I think they will methodically steamroll a young and inexperienced Ottawa team.
We were the same against Washington and took them to 7.

Yeah I figure the teams that play Thursday are more like to start the playoffs Sunday. I mean there are issues such as arena availability but other than that, I assume the goal would be to give teams more than one day to rest if at all possible

Ot loss in 6 but made them sweat. Ottawa has nothing to lose.

Ohh ok, I just assumed it was going to be on Saturday. I’m guessing Edmonton and LA, and possibly Calgary would also start on Sunday considering both play each other on Thursday

Why does anybody care what Senators fans or fans of any team say?

Personally, I think that any NHL playoff team is capable of beating any other playoff team in a 7-game series so I'm never really surprised when upsets happen.. Please note that I did not say "equally capable". There are also such factors as injury, illness, penalties, luck, etc.

Last year, series started on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

I would imagine most of those were earlier in the season but the team has the 5th most shots blocked in the league this season (1327 blocks) and have allowed the 12th least shots on goal in the league in the last 6 games (27.33 sh/g). They also focus on minimizing high danger scoring chances. They clear the front of the net when a rebound occurs and don't let the players stand around with impunity as they have in the past.
We have never "let the players stand around with impunity". That's just a lazy false narrative, made by people who don't understand that there is more than one way to defend and protect the net front. We allow more rebound shots now, and have all season. We allow the 8th most shots in general, and the 12th most high danger shots, so we're not really minimizing those either. There are aspects of defensive play that we are better at now, like shot blocking, but that has come at the cost of a lot of the other things that make up effective defensive play. We have dropped to 22nd in the league in overall defensive results.
The defence has been very good this last stretch finally playing the type of hockey that is successful in the playoffs, unlike what they did with Keefe coaching.
There's nothing about the way we are playing that is inherently more successful in the playoffs. Some people have just been fooled into thinking there's only one way to be successful in the playoffs.

Of course. The future hasn't happened yet. We have to see if TOR can be better than 5 playoff wins.

Goaltending going into the playoffs is considerably better. Better goaltending can certainly factor into playoff success.

Goaltending is the #1 reason for optimism IMO. Other reasons that come to mind are the fact that the PP is looking pretty good, we seem to be 100% healthy, the addition of Carlo has really solidified our defence and our chances of winning the division are really good which would be huge as well. There are other reasons too but those are perhaps the biggest ones.

Everything's looking pretty good really, the only big negative is our playoff history (actually the putrid PK is another big problem) so hopefully the players can put that out of their minds. If they play their best hockey on a relatively consistent basis, this team could go places. I don't want to get too excited because I've been disappointed more times than I care to think about but still, I have to say that things are looking pretty good.

I do too, but apparently Monday is also possible.
Agreed. The only benefit of Sunday is that it allows game 4 to be next Saturday, but I'm guessing that even if they start on Monday they will adjust the schedule to put game 3 on Saturday.
