Leafs can easily get 0 points in the next 2 games, and TB wins both games and you would have an egg on your face. More humility will do you good.
I need a bit of help with this. What is the rational basis on which you believe that the Leafs will get no points against Buffalo and Detroit? In all seriousness, is the answer simply "well, it could happen", because you are right that I will have no response for that. What do you think the odds are on Toronto losing two games in a row, including one at home, against Buffalo and Detroit based on how it has played against those two teams this season and where each team currently is at this time of the season? 5%? 1% The likelihood of it happening is extremely low, let alone combining it with Tampa also winning both of its games in regulation. It is so statistically insignificant that only a Leafs fan would say that it could "easily" happen.

The Leafs have had a terrible record in Buffalo's building over the years. It's been almost an automatic loss. Detroit is more favourable. Just saying, I wouldn't be so confident. It will hurt more if it doesn't happen.

It'd be good to see them earn a point next game and be able to rest the last game.
I think coasting into the playoffs is bad for Game 1 or even game 2 if you've really let in some bad habits.
Being able to take the final game as rest though is a good balance of not having an adrenaline dump after game 82 and coming in flat to game 1 and not playing good hockey for too long before game 1 and having to refind the intensity and attention to detail.

It's perfectly reasonable to be confident when the odds weigh heavily in favour of being confident.

Bottom feeders haven’t exactly been the Leafs’ speciality this season

Won’t be easy wins against Buffalo or Detroit. But hopefully they can given a damn to take the division with a win.

They have not played this strong and consistently down the stretch with this core group for all of the duration of time they have been together. From a style standpoint they are definitely different and it has been near-must win games for these couple of weeks as they try to win the division.

Both psychologically and from a confidence standpoint they have to be on point to grind out win after win as they have, seemingly even if tired. Their system is designed for low scoring, low event hockey, BUT, with their personnel and North drive game, they will have an advantage on the scoresheet as their D and goalie essentially matches up with anyone. This is also why special teams is going to be crucial. A nose for the net must also be elevated as playoffs are going to require another level of urgency.

With McCabe back in the lineup, this team is that much better. I wonder if Berube is considering Patches for game one. If the team keeps winning, he may not have a spot right off the tee for game one.

Regardless, playoffs are a grind and this season has been a great test of this the last couple of months. I tell you what, I'm impressed with their ability to bounce back and maintain confidence and commitment in this battle for first, though it's still far from over.

They definitely have their eyes on the prize (preparedness for a Cup run). Let's hope next game in Buffalo settles this so that the last game can be a focus on defense and staying limber.
