LEAFS GDT Atlantic Division - Race to the 1st

Leafs have the ROW sealed up. But Tampa would have RWs if they win one more game than the Leafs (1st tie-breaker) so they would take the division. Leafs need to win at least 2 of these games and hope Tampa doesn't win out.
Lots of people overthinking this. The math and teams'schedules are such that the division has been locked up for a while now. Tampa is not going to win all of their remaining games in regulation, and the Leafs aren't going to lose theirs.

It's not. There is no math to support this.

There is a probability, and that gets higher all the time, but it most certainly is not locked up.

Tampa might be a mirage.

Especially as Paul was saying, getting teams on the second half of a back to back and getting the back up goalie after playing Florida the night before.

It explains:
Their home record dominance
Their goals against
Their goals for
Their plus minus

Still, hope they beat Florida in rd 1 and we beat Ott in Rd1.
AI needs to be better: As of April 12, 2025, specific data detailing how many games the Tampa Bay Lightning have played against opponents on the second night of back-to-back sets during the 2024–25 NHL season is not readily available.

Theoretically, my wife might one day agree with something I say. But in reality....
Okay well that's your problem. We don't know the reality because it hasn't happened. We are discussing the future. And it's possible Tampa sweeps the last 3 games. In which case Leafs would need 5/8 points. Is it unlikely? Yes.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought we had the tiebreak edge so we'd only need 4 points.

The right way to think! GLG.

I’m guessing you weren’t around for the Blue Jays 1987 collapse against the Tigers. The Blue Jays gave up a 31/2 game lead with seven to go and lost 3 in a row to the Tigers in the final series of the season to miss the playoffs. Older Toronto fans have more PTSD to overcome.

Remember watching that on TV as a kid and 92-93 cured me. I remember the deflation in the bar when Carter missed that final shot against the 76ers and 2019 wiped that away. The Leafs winning is a different animal though.......

Its Redsox/Cubs breaking the curses levels. Even 2016 Cleveland levels.

After last night's games, the Leafs have an 89% chance of winning the Atlantic and an ~87% chance of facing Ottawa in Round 1. (Plus 11% Panthers and 2% Lightning.)
It's exciting to think about a battle of Ontario series.

I was late teens last time they played in a series. Crazy it's been that long.

Please win the 1st round this year Leafs... dear lord... the razzing would be awful.

I think they were even up by 4 1/2, not 100% sure. IIRC Ernie Whitt went down, also Tony Fernandez, out of the last 3 series of the season 2 were against the Tigers, they won the first game of the first series and then the wheels came off. 1985 was a heartbreaking end to the season but 1987 might have been even worse. Before those injuries hit, they had a shot at going all the way, no doubt about it.
