Ottawa would be up by a point, but Montreal would have a lot of momentum. In that scenario, a cynic might say that the leafs would take it a bit easier in Saturday's game.
The Leafs can’t afford to let up on anybody. They need every point they can get to hold off the Lightening who have three layups and a likely meaningless against the Panthers at home.

Montreal needs to win in regulation to clinch a playoff berth. Hopefully they exhaust themselves doing so and they’re not as energized tomorrow. Clinching should also give them a sense of satisfaction and they won’t try so hard. We need every advantage we can get being down to 5 defensemen.
If they win in regulation they’re one point behind Ottawa and would have a chance to play the Leafs in round 1 instead of Washington. I want Montreal to lose tonight and have nothing to play for tomorrow. They’re not missing the playoffs anyway.

It appears both want this win badly, everybody wants the Leafs. lol!

I disagree with that assessment. Montreal won’t feel secure or satisfied until they have that “x” beside them in the standings. Yes it’s unlikely they’re caught but every loss just puts more pressure on them. As long as there is a chance they can slip out of a playoff spot they’re not going to take it easy in any games.

Way I see it Montreal and Ottawa are just happy to be going to the dance this year and don’t care whether it’s us or Washington they play. Their effort level will be higher trying to clinch over playing for seeding.

Well in that case if Montreal wins tonight they should just cruise tomorrow. Go Habs go.

Ok. We disagree.

They’ll likely beat either team but if beggars can choose their preference would be the Leafs

Cmon Detroit. Even taking them to OT would be very helpful.

Also if Habs lose tonight and tomorrow... some teams still have a chance.

They have to win out but it's doable when you're playing 4 games to make the playoffs. It's do or die time.

I'll go out on a limb and say the Leafs are safe. After tonight, you can pretty much guarantee Toronto/Ottawa in the first round.

Thank you useless f*** Red Wings. Now just need Tampa to hopefully drop one more in regulation
