Glad theres a 6 point separation from the panthers to the sens. Leafs adding 3-4 points should be enough to clinch a first round match up against the sens.

Tampa can get 8 points potentially. We are 3 up.

If we go 2-2, Tampa would need to win all 4 games to pass us. If we win against Habs and Tampa loses we basically got it

If the Leafs go 2-2, I believe Tampa passes us with a 3-0-1 record too because they'd be tied in points but would have the first tie breaker (RW).

I see Tampa gets Detroit tonight on the back end of a Wings B2B and of course we have ANOTHER B2B including traveling to Carolina for a 5pm game Sunday after a Saturday night game. Ain't NHL scheduling grand? Our best bet is beating Montreal tomorrow then the Wings Thursday then hope Tampa can't run the table. A game in Buffalo is an almost automatic loss so I see that and the Carolina games as very difficult.

Tampa faces the Panthers once in those 4 games and I suspect it will be a highly competitive game. Coin flip. Plus at some point they will likely try to rest a player or two. I don't see them going 3-0-1.

We play Habs tomorrow but they are playing the Senators tonight. Really no reason we can't win both games this weekend or come away with 3 of 4 points. And Detroit is the insurance marker.

I think at this point the playoffs are mostly set. Tonight's game is likely the biggest with the Habs having a chance to make WC1/WC2 really interesting.

Florida is likely locked into A3. Tampa 'could' pass Toronto but if Toronto plays decent hockey they should have 1st regardless.

So its basically:
TOR v OTT (or MTL if they make it interesting tonight)
TBL v FLA (outside chance FLA has home ice)

Lets hope Habs beat Sens tonight as that pretty much kills Sens chances for 3rd place .. also much less likely maybe RW can beat Tampa and if Leafs beat Habs tomorrow its pretty much decided .. Leafs v Sens and Bolts v Cats .. even if all that occurs Leafs are still better off getting a win v Canes and resting everyone for next weeks 2 games especially our D men .. we don't want to have to play full out with full D core next week if possible .. lets hope Vasi has one of those sh*t da bed games tonight

If Montreal beats Ottawa tonight, then it's more likely that the Leafs would play Montreal in the first round.

No, Ottawa would still be ahead in the standings.
Ottawa would be up by a point, but Montreal would have a lot of momentum. In that scenario, a cynic might say that the leafs would take it a bit easier in Saturday's game.

We need to solidify first, we shouldn't be taking it easy until we have that wrapped up. Although I would rather play Montreal, but finishing first helps us avoid Florida.

The favourable Tampa schedule the last 5 games is quite something

4 of last 5 games they get a team on the second night of a back to back, at home, while they are rested.

The last of the back to backs is vs Florida.
The other 3 all against teams that just played Florida the previous night.

I have to wonder how many times over the course of a season this happens.

Montreal needs to win in regulation to clinch a playoff berth. Hopefully they exhaust themselves doing so and they’re not as energized tomorrow. Clinching should also give them a sense of satisfaction and they won’t try so hard. We need every advantage we can get being down to 5 defensemen.

the last time was so embarrassing
wow
I get it. Toronto needs to beat everyone from now on. They have the horses.

I think the Habs series loss was soul crushing. Even worse was this time last season where Keefe had the team playing shinny/milestone hockey. Every night I would tune-in and TOR would be down 4-1 but Matthews had 14 shots on net. Or Nylander would have just as many. It was the hardest thing I've watched as a fan.

Maurice was complaining about it the other day. Apparantly it happens a lot
