Even right now we can see easily a difference when leafs playing in front of a hot Stolarz than in front of a cold Woll. The team doesn't play at all the same way and we are in regular season in game where the pressure is pretty low... So imagine in playoff with all the pressure coming with + pressure from past failure, when the hot goalie in your opponent and the cold one is your own goalie. You really thinking than the guy in front will be able to play the same exact way?

Ottawa isn't good enough or has enough pedigree as a team where they can pick their opponent. They haven't made the playoffs since 2017 and have not clinched yet, so I imagine that's what their sole focus is on. Panthers at this point probably accepted the division is out of reach and they don't care who they face as long as they can get to the playoffs as healthy as possible.

Ottawa isn't in the business of screwing around with seeding when they're trying to make the playoffs for the first time in 8 years. They don't care at all about who they face. They're in "just win" mode. Everything after clinching is just gravy.

Florida we've seen be able to turn it on whenever they want/need to. They can afford to fool around with seeding.

Because no Florida will not tank just for fun, losing home advantage and $$$ coming from home game just for the fun to play against leafs, it's not how thing working.

So if Panthews player are so injured than they need rest and stop playing, maybe panthers is maybe the best matchup

Knowing Maurice, he is arrogant enough to want to try and crush Torontos dreams. This would be very personal for the Leafs I think and just might be the backhand to the face that would motivate them.

I've been saying for a while I'd rather we play Florida. I fancy our chances more against Florida than Ottawa.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. We want to win 4 series, not just one. To me, the easier path is facing only one Florida team. If this Leafs team gets beat by Ottawa then they are not SC contenders, and never have been. Give me Ottawa, then whoever wins between Florida and TB.

Are they so injured that this rest is a necessity, or are they resting because they don't care about seeding and they're players could just use it?

We've no idea just how severe Florida's injuries are. It's a big gamble to take against the reigning Cup Champs and a team that has had our number the past couple of years.

Not that we have much of a choice. I suppose the Leafs could tank and hope Tampa passes us if Florida is going to keep f***ing about. Then we'd get Ottawa in the 2-3 matchup instead of the 1-WC.
