Been liking the Atlanta fans posts on the board. What was the fan experience like for Atlanta at the Omni in the 1970s?

1. Tom Lysiak may be one of the most underpriveged NHLers ever, stuck in hell. Imagine if he he had been in Montreal.

2. Hossa had an awesome Hart-worthy 100-point career-high, franchise-high season for the best nicknamed THRASHERS franchise i proudly wore the jersey and long-sleeved tee for.... he and Big Buff were worth the price of searching out (as a Canadian, it wasn't easy peasy getting Atlanta games back in the day).

3. The Atlanta Flames became the Calgary Flames. That is reason enough for any Oil fan to be ugh.

4. The Atlanta Thrashers were actually good and cool but ending up adopting Winnipeg and pretending to be part of the Jets family (a stepchild) was... okay, i guess.

Dan Bouchard and Phil Myre were a pretty good goaltending duo.

But Willie Plett stole the ROY from Don Murdoch, lol.

I was - and remain - a big fan of the Flames first GM, Cliff Fletcher. He had an appreciation of the need to have a few guys with size and sandpaper to provide a sense of security for the offensive stars. Always wondered how the Rangers of the 1970s might have differed with him as GM. Also always wondered how Ken Houston would have looked in a Blueshirt.
