I thought these questions were supposed to be directed at Jesse and co. as in relating to them -- but if not, going off the Rosen question, do we know anything about why Lisa Dillman was let go from the Athletic or who will be replacing her? Who is the Kings beat writer for the LA Times these days?

FWIW Mirtle dipped into one of the comment sections and said they'd have news for Kings coverage for the Athletic soon.

Still late and kinda hokey that it was in a comment section rather than bigger news but its something. Curious who it could be.

And no I didnt' submit my application ;)

Hammond was really good as well. Until they put him on TV
Hammond always looked like he had the sun in his eyes.

Finally that’d be great. Feel like there’s more news to the Skull and Bones society than the Kings coverage.

I'm holding out hope that it'll be Rosen, but that's probably a long shot.

Props to Eric Stephens though, he has done a wonderful job filling in. The Kings beat has to be seen as a promotion based on market size and fanbase size. I wouldn’t hate him getting the full time gig.

And the answer is…Eric Stephens is going to continue doing it while also still covering the Ducks. Athletic skimping on Southern California hockey coverage shouldn’t surprise me with the path that place has been on.

With all their other releases/firings too I'm probably out on The Athletic then. I love their coverage but when orgs start taking shortcuts, they don't get my full money.

Given the state of media coverage of the Kings, I think the Hockey Royalty team is in the lead. They’re out their talking about both the nhl and AHL players and aren’t afraid to raise doubts.

There are basically zero insiders but that’s the case for most of the teams in California. So it’s not just the Kings.

In the lead in what sense?

Frequency? Accuracy? Volume?

Buddy, they’re consistently entertaining. Zero fluff.

1hr+ podcasts covering moves in depth, the team, the division, the league, the minors. No interviews with team employees spun as coverage. No wasting time on where people grew up or what they learned as college interns or their favorite music. Basically zero taint of currying favor or being on the payroll.

And at the end of the day, a variety of opinions are offered, debated and had fun with. They don’t seem miserable when things aren’t rosy with every single player and franchise decision. They can have a discussion among passionate fans who don’t confuse different opinions with hating the team.
