Bure, Coffey and a MLD regular made vulture-like circulars mid-ice, awaiting turnovers and rushes against. TV NEVER shows such unabashed waisted effort (except once with Cliff Ronning i recall - a non-ATD pick ever) until they receive a miraculous pass and surges on the counterattack.

I saw this in the building live in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto and Detroit (when i was in Ottawa and Montreal i saw none of the aforementioned play).

"Not really, checkers dont make much money."

- Steve Yzerman
(when asked if he was impressed with the Wings forwards defensive play in the third period in some game way back)

"I'm not here to work hard, but to score goals."

- Petr Klima
(when asked about his work ethic in his own zone)

I’m going to teach way back here, as I didn’t really draft enough of these players before, Philadelphia selects defenseman Sylvio Mantha

Les Canadiens select Daniel Alfredsson, RW.

Alfie got a big cheer before the Sweden game in Montreal which was a bit surprising.

Heading to Miami. Gonna watch the game tonight at the Panther practice rink then back to Boston for the championship game. No gf at the moment so taking full advantage…

During Alfredsson's career the Sens were the 2nd team that RDS broadcasted on TV, and I don't recall major rivalry between those Sens and the Habs, so Alfredsson, a bit of a mirror to our own captain of the time, is a natural fit to be well-known and well-liked in Montreal.

The Sens are not well-liked in Montreal. At all. Not at the level of the Bruins or Leafs, but still. Also surprised at the loud ovation Marchand got for scoring but understandable.

The Sens during Alfredsson's time were a different animal. We didn't have any animosity towards the Senators back in the day. At least, that's how I experienced it.

Not me. They were arrogant and got their comeuppance in the final. The later on Sens I hated even more and so did everyone I know. Now an NDG guy bought them so I’m torn.

Hogsmeade is the last team without any 2nd liners drafted yet, so we are behind the 8-ball for secondary scoring. Time to fix that... maybe the best offensive player left is a flawed player who needs the perfect linemates to make him work, and luckily for me, one of those perfect linemates is available to take.

So, we are going with Nels Stewart and Bert Olmstead.

That’s a really nice start for line with Old Poison

Just wanted to shout out the last batch of picks. A lot of nice additions, solid value on a few in particular.
Yours was great.

Modano i have never drafted cuz he's a tweener: never quite satisfying enough as a top-6 scorer, yet not having enough bottom-6 intangibles for where he gets drafted. He is a great all-around utility player who could be successful on a 2nd or 3rd line, just if you need a 2nd line scoring center, better are available; similarly, if you need a shutdown shadow 3rd line pivot or 120-foot impact player, there are better available now. Modano ain't a top 200 player, 9th round pick guy imo. We all have guys we would like to draft but who never fall to where one thinks he's worth it.
