ATD2025 Draft Thread

If we are going to criticize Kucherov for not being clutch, then we should talk about Draisaitl.

An astounding 1.80 PPG in the first two rounds. He drops to 0.76 PPG over the back two rounds. Injuries play a major role, but if we are going to nitpick game 7s, then this is a valid criticism too.

My goal was to tone down the endless praise Kucherov gets as a playoff performer. He is a solid playoff scorer, but not necessarily a guy who steps up in the biggest games, and this nuance is easily brushed off by just looking at his total playoff stats.

I don't think Game 5-7s are an insignificant nitpick.

If those stats weren't uncovered by overpass, people could easily try to say that Kucherov was just as clutch as Kane, which is nonsense.

The Ottawa 67’s would like to welcome, from Pskov, Russia, one of the fastest skater of his generation, Hart trophy winner, a player who can brag about his two Selke and three Cups, Sergei Fedorov.

Forgot to comment on this, but Syl Apps Sr was incredible value.

I'm not saying this is my position, but there's an argument to rank him over even Sakic and Yzerman. His career is lost in the smog of the WWII era and all that but he is a legit #1 center even in a draft this size.

For some reason it seems like he is considered an "unsexy" pick in the ATD.

He got painted with the same brush as his poor defensive linemates for a long time here until I found some evidence that Apps was personally pretty solid both ways (or at least became that way like many scoring forwards).

Missing some years right in his prime leaves him without outstanding longevity too, but that is a factor outside his control. To me him coming back and being a PPG player again immediately shows that you can pencil in those two extra seasons..

It looks like there has been over 10 hours since the last pick was made.

But it could be just my issue with timestamps

We were thinking about Karlsson when we picked Vasiliev. Decided we needed more of what Vasiliev offered, but if you need offense from blueline Karlsson is good pick here.

Karlsson is just a hard guy to incorporate into your team. Offensively, he's maybe third best for defensemen ever. But he's always struggled on deep teams or when the offense can't flow through him. He brings a very unique asset, but making the most of it is a testament to team building.

Savannah selects Joe Malone, who moved from center to be on Newsy Lalonde's left wing in Montreal and immediately led the NHL in scoring. The following year Joe and Newsy had epic playoff scores. Then Joe goes to the Quebec Bulldogs but remains on left wing to again lead the league in scoring.
