ATD2025 Draft Thread

We have done how many atds 20 yrs and for quite a few years it was 2 atds a year.

It's not ground hog day so let's change it up.
This is the wrong reason.

There is no reason why Crosby is better than the PEAK superstar or DYNASTY superstar. Not one.

4th was Crosby's ceiling, 3rd if you tried to denigrate era and go after 9.

Trade down or ADMIT you reached for some skill-set, team-building reason.

I admire the balls of LL, whatever some purist might say!

As much as I respect every participant, some are taking this too seriously.

Crosby at #2 might not be the guys we would have bet on to be pick there, yes, but what's the problem? Are there any unwritten rules against choosing a player other than the usual suspects in the top four?

Well, looks like my hopes for Crosby at #11 are gone haha

There is a list of 5 guys that go in the first 3 rounds that I always hope to have a chance at drafting one year but it never seems to work out. Probably because I always seem to be slotted in the same area, give or take a few picks. Crosby being one of them.

Trade down. Honor the role.

Honor the role? C'mon VI... It's a game on an internet board... Nobody's saving life here, nobody's have died on the battlefield of an ATD....

What's the honor of being an ATDer?

I'm mean, it's fun to be part of the community and play every year... But, an honor?

Asking someone to 'honor the role' because he chose somebody else than the usual 4 players at that spot?

If there's something, #5 should be thanking LL for the opportunity his choice gave him.

Give me, and everybody, a break, in all respect...

Well, any way you look at it, it was poor value. He could have traded down to say, 8 or 9, and been almost guaranteed to get his man, while getting a king's ransom for the number 2 pick.

But yeah, at the end of the day, it's a game, and not even one where a dime is at stake. I get the criticism, and I agree with it, but I also agree with you not to take it that seriously. Ultimately, if he's hurting anyone, he's just hurting himself.

I totally agree with you about trading down. But, in the end, it all comes to your last sentence.

If someone picked Ovechkin 2nd or McDavid 1st?...would you give them "a break"?

We have surprisingly had a lack of yahoos in ATDs.

Maybe we are beyond trying to be best.

Well, like Claude said in response to my post. What it comes down to is that he's only hurting himself. And to be clear, I definitely think he's hurting himself. At the same time, he's giving someone else a break. The #5 pick for example, just shot up in value. If he picked Ovi second or McDavid 1st, I'd feel the same. It's his draft to blow. I might think he's well on his way, but everybody has the right to build their team as they choose.

Ah...

Sorry for mentioning undrafteds

Such should be nixed; or who cares about honoring history here in this exercise?

Why wouldn't I gave them a break?

I mean, if somebody goes outside the box and give me chance to get a better player, I should only be thanking them!

But I guess, in the end, it all depends on what kind of person we are. Some people are grateful and others like to knock other people on the head.

Again, nobody will ever be inducted into the builders section of the HOF for their success at the ATD.
