Only being round 2 and already seeing my pick stolen one slot before me is a tough scene. I'll have to pivot in a different direction here.

Ted Lindsay is way too obvious a pick right now, and there are lots of reunited duos so far, so he's a natural choice on Gordie's wing. Then, I'd also like a Red Kelly substitute, so I'll go best defenceman available with King Clancy.

Great pair, amazing to reunite Howe with Lindsay. I tried trading up for Clancy, and considered Lindsay with my last pick.

I’m a big fan of Clancy, he was on my short list back when I took Plante. He feels like a mini steal here

Clancy is one player that needs an updated biography, all due respect to seventieslord's bio from 2010, which was deep and thorough, it dates back 15 years before we had complete access to newspapers archives.

It would be great to have a year-by-year ballad through his career.

That's the same book. It was written with Brian McFarlane in 1968. A different Clancy bio was written in the mid 80's by Anne Logan.

The Logan one isn't as good but mine is autographed by Clancy so it's one of my "special" ones.

Hockey players are among the biggest bullshitters out there. My general rule of thumb has always been if you're looking for the great reads with the great storytelling go for the autobiographies, but if you want the facts stick with the biographies. Many exaggerate details, but some flat out lie for whatever reason whether that's an honest mistake from getting memories mixed up or maybe it just fits the narrative better..

One player in his autobio discussed at length his recollection of this great moment in history. Gave us his "view from the ice" and detailed his involvement in the play. What a moment, and he was a direct part of it. Until you find the actual hockey clip decades later and video evidence shows that same player on the bench the entire time, nowhere near the puck.

Another ATD player spends great detail in a book describing his experiences during a particular NHL playoff series. What it meant to him, what it was like in the moment. Problem? Basic research shows said player was in the WHA at the time of the series.
