Not sure I'd go with conference all-stars, but I'd like to see an official third all-star team. I've kinda wanted that for a while though.Time to expand the all star format as the league is getting bigger every few yrs. They should recognize more players with first and 2nd all stars for both conferences.
Assuming we're not counting Lester Patrick's very brief emergency netminder stint in 1928, Jordan Staal's 17 seasons between two Cup wins (2009 and 2026) might be a new record. Unless I'm missing someone.
They're not official, but I've kept track of them in this thread going back to 1968. (It's a few years out of date - I'll get around to updating it at some point). Not sure I'd go with conference all-stars, but I'd like to see an official third all-star team. Watching game 1 of the 1987 Norris Division Semifinal this afternoon...late in the 3rd, Detroit is whistled for a hand pass in their defensive zone and the announcers were like, "yeah, handpass..."
Did the NHL, at some point, come along and allow hand passes in the defensive zone since 1988 or more recent...? Anyone have a sense of this...?
