  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
Assuming we're not counting Lester Patrick's very brief emergency netminder stint in 1928, Jordan Staal's 17 seasons between two Cup wins (2009 and 2026) might be a new record. Unless I'm missing someone.

Not sure I'd go with conference all-stars, but I'd like to see an official third all-star team. I've kinda wanted that for a while though.
They're not official, but I've kept track of them in this thread going back to 1968. (It's a few years out of date - I'll get around to updating it at some point).

Its's the end of an era.

It has been "Hockey Night in Canada" in name only ever since the Rogers acquisition was made official back in 2013, but this is still sad news and very much signals the official end to an incomparable legendary branding that was HNIC. Nostalgia obviously plays a huge factor, but Saturday's just haven't been the same since Rogers/Sportsnet took over. I think Canadians can universally agree on this.

Watching game 1 of the 1987 Norris Division Semifinal this afternoon...late in the 3rd, Detroit is whistled for a hand pass in their defensive zone and the announcers were like, "yeah, handpass..."

Did the NHL, at some point, come along and allow hand passes in the defensive zone since 1988 or more recent...? Anyone have a sense of this...?

I have a vague sense that it was always forbidden in the goalie crease, but not that it was forbidden in the defensive zone as a whole. Great question, I would like to know as well.
