ATD 2023 Draft Thread II (see post 1,069 for ATD Final voting result)

Rank the league as a whole?

But we play half our games against divisional rivals and ought to be compared against teams in our division.
Basically, I agree with your premise. It's never been made clear that we play half of our hypothetical games against Division Rivals- but it seems an unspoken/unwritten assumption that we play MORE such games against Division Rivals- and there can be little doubt that this recognition affects the drafting strategy of a good number of us.

Digression: if anyone wants to waste an hour-plus of your life that you'll never get back, try doing a balanced schedule with 19 teams, whereby teams play Division Rivals more than their out-of-Division conference Rivals. and those teams more than the teams in the other Conference. After a while, you'll long for a simpler project, like learning how to dance to The Rite of Spring.

I'm going to try to get my vote in tomorrow. I'm going to feel bad about the fifth-place votes no matter who they end up being. The last couple of years, I felt there were some teams that lagged. That's not the case this year.

I voted and I'm fine with however they are weighted together with professors votes. Damn it was hard, lots of good teams and no easy choices for last place either!

Thought I'd do the old "quote for truth" thing for this contribution- and add that in addition to it being applicable to Bogart (& Transplanted Caper), it could also apply to @BenchBrawl (vis-à-vis Sturminator) should HE wish to submit a ballot.

I'm not Sturminator's co-GM.

Picking a few spares during his absence hardly qualifies me as a co-GM.

Anyway, I'll vote in the playoffs as a non-participant. I wanted to vote in the RS but I don't have enough time today to do my vote and the teams justice. Playoff voting will be simpler.

My votes are in. That was actually pretty difficult. Overall, it’s probably the strongest set of rosters that I’ve been part of.

Please don’t take it personally if I voted your team last in your division. Four teams had to be, and last place in a division this year is still a fairly solid line-up all considered.

Good luck everyone.

lalalala I'm not looking.....

just here to say, I am getting rosters sent to me tonight. I might need 2-3 days to go through them all and cast my votes. Is this going to be ok? I don't want to spend a second on this if it's not going to count for anything.

Well that's good to know. But do you have any authority to say so?

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

"WHO DO YOU WORK FOR???"
I found this post of yours from this year's discussion thread- I don't have the option of pulling it, as it's a locked thread. However, in it, you stated:
Last year, I voted completely blindly. I knew nothing about the cities, names or GMs. I received rosters and nothing else. I was able to provide a completely unbiased vote on all the teams. Aside from all the other biases I have, that is. But at least none of it could be seen as GM-related.

I did it as a public service. I'd actually like to casually follow the draft, but if I do, it negates my ability to vote blindly.

So, on that note, I am 100% open to doing this again, and, I recommend we try to find other retired GMs who know how this all works, and see if we can get them to do the same. There could be a dozen of us. seventieslord
To me, that constituted a "speak now or forever hold your peace" moment. The only objection that was entered at all that year was towards a single individual non-participant (clearly not you) who was credibly accused of agenda-driven voting.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a closed issue.

Just to be clear, I wasn't questioning whether I would be allowed to vote, I'm questioning whether I'm going to be given enough time now that I have the rosters in hand the day before votes are due.

@Theokritos how many ballots have you received so far?

12 ballots so far, but half of them from two GMs of the same team. Which means that only 9 13 of the 19 entries have submitted ballots until now.

No ballot received missing from:
Chesapeake Icebreakers(@VanIslander)
Chicago Shamrocks (@Hawkey Town 18)
Guelph Platers (@TheDevilMadeMe & @BraveCanadian)
Peterborough Petes (@Claude The Fraud)
Portland Stags (@RustyRazor)
Richmond Renegades (@The Macho King)
Saskatoon Sheiks (@ImporterExporter)
Seattle Metropolitans (@Sturminator)
Toronto Maple Leafs (@Leaf Lander)
Windsor Spitfires (@Johnny Engine & @spitsfan24)
