ATD 2023 Draft Thread I

Nobody ever said that. ...
 imho opinion ignoring my post would have been a better strategy than denial. What if some poster (not me) pulls up quotes that prove you wrong?

History is written by the victors and I can't mention undrafteds. I think many historians and coaches would agree the importance of goalies in the 2010s playoffs was unrealistic. I agree to disagree.

I used to poll a lot and 70+% of the main board and this draft have Hasek > Roy. Is this a new opinion in the HoH forums (including the ATD) or did I over estimate Roy's support and under estimate Hasek's support?

No one has said goalies are not important, all the goalies that are going to be selected are on the top 200 player list on the HOH.

Half of all the forwards and defensemen won't be. The margin between the top goalie and the 19th goalie taken is going to be way smaller than similar gaps at other positions

Good luck with that.

The most "anti-goalie" argument you'd see here was along the lines of "the weakest starting goalie is still a superstar HHOFer"

Basically, this.

I used to poll a lot and 70+% of the main board and this draft have Hasek > Roy. Is this a new opinion in the HoH forums (including the ATD) or did I over estimate Roy's support and under estimate Hasek's support?

Younger posters (like the main forum) usually prefer Hasek.

Who gives a **** what people said on this sub-board the 2010s?
Great point. That's why I don't understand why you agree with TDMM's denial (which is silly when research is possible) and disagree with me. Will a little constructive criticism be taken well? Imho you make emotional posts based on the personality and success of who you're replying to. It doesn't add to the discussion and gets old. I'd love to see you break through to the next level of posting. See @Sturminator 's usually logical, objective, and non-emotional posts for inspiration.

I can't fight denial and have better things to do than pulling up all those available quotes.

This is why I can never draft Paul Coffey. I'd be hoisted on my own petard.
That's the great thing about the ATD. Players are great on your team and suck next year on your opponent's team. I have received negative comments from non-GMs about the necessity and maturity of our post draft process. I've also shared 2010s posts with two clinical psychologists and their comments were not kind.

Yes, and a vast portion of the profiles we now have at our fingertips were forged in that fire.

Like real hockey, the ATD has gotten less bloody over the years.

For the love of god...if looks like the thread where my original research on Frank Foyston was posted (one of the ATD #10 draft threads 1 through 3...back when people used to do that sort of thing) no longer exists on this site, at all.

That was f***ing clever.
