I was thinking about him too but the playoff thing just...
At least he had a couple of good international appearances.

Swamp Devils pick a defensive forward with a bit of a scoring touch, arguably the best pest of all-time, Tony Leswick, LW/RW
He was a good enough overall player to be a 2nd Team All Star once, and selected to 4 All-Star Teams on merit (plus 2 more as a Cup winner). Finished top 10 in goals twice, and top 20 in points 3 times, fairly weak era granted, but that's still a a better offensive resume that a lot of guys who are going to find themselves on checking lines.

If he can give both Maurice Richard and Gordie Howe problems, he should be good against anyone.

The Fireworks are very pleased to select a RW who will fit perfectly atop our 1st line. He is a great skater and playmaker which will work well along side Ted Lindsay. As well he was used as a shadow against opponents top lines.

It will be a pretty effective checking line, but as far as 1st lines go, it's not very good. It's one of the best LWs of all time paired with a 2nd line center and a 3rd line winger.
His 2nd line, with Savard and Conacher will be better. That gives him a pretty good pair or lines.

I agree with most of this, but you're harsh on Ted Kennedy for calling him a second line center. It will be one of the lesser productive first line in the draft, but perhaps one of the best defensively, and it's a well built one IMO.

It's relative......I mean here Rousseau may be just a 3rd liner but comparatively among 3rd liners he's an ace.
There's also some RWers left that could've been 1st liners in their day but here would they still be considered 1st liners?
Wherever he puts this line, they'll be effective or he could switch some players around.....who knows, maybe this could be an effective combo....

Lol at Ted Kennedy being a 2nd line centre.
Rather then having some plug 1st line "glue guy" I have all 3 players bringing offense to the line.
Kennedy led the playoffs in scoring once, goal scoring twice and assists another year (all for cup winning teams)

Also I think Rousseaus offense is underated. Compared to Gare Rousseau blows him out of the water. (No offense (no pun) billy but gare is being used as a first line rw as well.)

I agree that Bobby Rousseau is more suited to a first line role than Danny Gare, which is not really saying much though. But Arrbez won the ATD last draft with a much worst first line forward (IMO), so it's not all bad.

I'd go as far as saying that Rousseau is close to Alfredssons range of offensive finishes.

Yeah but Rousseau wasn't exactly the catalyst of those lines since he was playing with Beliveau...
Plus, and this is just more of speculation on my part from reading some newspapers, but I get the impression that his offensive numbers are heavily supported by the PP, where he played on the point.

There are also a lot of references to power play goals with Rousseau on the ice. We don't have the statistics for pre-expansion, but first season post-expansion Rousseau was second in the NHL in PPG on ice for.
Not to say that that's all he brings. He was noted as a good defensive guy too, so that'll be useful you, plus it gives you another guy to play on the PP point. But I'm not sure his ES offense is all that it seems.

Either way. I think I have the vs2 numbers for Rousseau, Gare and Alfie.
Alfie has more mentionable placements, but Rousseau is way closer to Alfie then he is to a winger like Gare.

There are probably a couple defensemen who could be viewed as better value here, unfortunately they don't fit in to my plans. As far as defensive and pk ability, this guy is one of the best available... Halifax selects Jim Schoenfeld, D.

Of course it is, he played the point on the PP as a distributor. PPG on ice for would give us a much better indication of the assist totals he's accrued if we had them. Unfortunately we just have to go by newspapers for that though.
