At the half way mark, Avs and Leafs lead the way in injuries and, more importantly, the value of the players injured out of the lineup.

The Avs play every game with at least 5 guys missing, usually 6-7. Just last night, 7 guys out for their win over Minnesota who complained because they were missing 4 players.

Are you pleased with how healthy your team has been this season?

If not, has your team handled the injuries well and still found ways to be successful?

So the Avs are an injury prone team and a likely first round exit in the playoffs. Thank you for the info.
 
As a Stars fan Seguin going down for the season abruptly and now Marchment missing a month is rough but thankfully we’ve got a solid group of kids (bottom 6ers) filling in.
 
It shows they have depth. I think Avs had injuries issues since their cup run. I'm surprised to see Toronto here though.
 
IMO if the Avs can just stay healthy come playoff time they're probably the most dangerous team in the league, or maybe you can say they have the highest potential ceiling. We'll see. I get that the goaltending isn't great but that group has proven before that they can overcome that when the rest of the team is clicking. Also curious to see if they're able to further upgrade the roster at the TDL.

Goaltending issues are solved by the Wood duo and so far they have done an awesome job and seem to have made the locker room trust their goalies again
 
How do they determine the value of the loss? Especially like with the hawks. Some of these guys never really got a chance to see what value they could have.

Edit: it’s on the bottom of the graph. Can’t say I agree with that criteria or disagree. Weighted average war from 3.5 years ago to now. Weighted how?

There is a conversation to be had about injuries, but boy does this come off as sour grapes.

You won the game, no need to make a thinly veiled thread to take a victory lap.

Or at least make it less obvious next time.

Avs fans are constantly finger wagged by other fans about their enthusiastically biased announcers. Some of us watch the opposing team’s broadcast. And in the Minnesota game what did we see? We saw an embarrassing parade of excuse making by Minnesota’s local announcers. Frankly, they’re just as biased as the Avs announcers (possibly moreso). They’re just not as animated so they fly under radar.

I never really understood criticizing local broadcast teams for being homers--aren't they supposed to be? I mean, in many cases they are actual fans. As long as they stay classy and don't get blinded by their own bias when it comes to playcalling, especially for penalties, goal reviews, dirty hits, etc, its all good. I've heard some commentators that have had outright had ill will for the opponents, and that totally sucks, but in general I expect their to be like a hometown bias in any regional broadcast to cater to the regional audience. National broadcasts are a different story, and even if it is the regional guys doing a national game, they need to change their tune for national games and play it straight down the middle.
 
Counting Poolman is silly if they are. But I disagree on Landy, he's made every attempt to come back and the Avs have had to constantly account for how they'd slot him in if he got healthy. Kind of like when Boston dealt with savard during their contending days, albeit his contract wasn't as big.

Injury-wise however this team has always been at the top, the only time they weren't as bad they won the cup.

Not sure if you’re referring to Avs announcers here but if you are i can help clarify. They do a pretty good job of talking up other teams star players and giving props. The issue with them is how they call the game. They go on long winded tangents that have nothing to do with the game and their color guy acts like a twelve year old all broadcast, every broadcast. They try to come up with catch phrases all the time and miss the mark drastically, they miscall plays and players nonstop. They upsell struggling Avs instead of objectively looking at what/where they need to improve, hell they were still insisting Georgiev was a solid #1 right up until the day he was traded.

They seem like genuinely good people and have some fundamentals that work really well in broadcasting but as a whole product they are very very lacking. Then add in the homerism and it’s easy to see why they are viewed as one of the poorest broadcasting crews in the NHL.
 
Leafs for sure are fortunate to still be in 1st in Atlantic despite missing both Woll and Stolarz for big stretches, Matthews most of the year, McCabe our best dman twice has been out with concussions, and all the forward injuries (our third line at one point was A. Nylander - Minten - Grybenkin lol).

Berube should be an Adams finalist for that reason IMO. Can't say he deserves to win over Carbery though

I’ve always liked berube, good to hear he’s having positive impact there.
