Soooo, are we gonna fix that disaster?

Should we not go with the two most embarassing points of strategy- PP and defense? Block shots. Done. (No idea what on earth I could to associate anything with the word "strategy" regarding what he might've said to do on the PP).

Would he bring in his own guys?

(For the crowd that wanted him)Would he consider Messier? Would he even be a good assistant?

I don't find it the least bit cute when a guy goes out of his way to end the careers of better players.

If a guy like that, with that kind of history had even tried something like that against a teammate of mine, I would have accepted the punishment for the necessary response. I want to see a guy like that coaching our team about as much as I want to swallow acid.

I dunno, I've never thought he was trying to end Neely's career. But I don't mean to take us OT.

let it go. he predominantly did all that dirty stuff not as a Ranger, he also payed the piper when Domi suckered him.
 
If Messier wants to coach--this might be a situation to start for him. If nothing else he could benefit the team potentially in special teams play and faceoffs--the pwp and faceoffs especially.

But even so it's usually best when the coach picks his own guys--as far as Sullivan--he might follow Tortorella wherever he goes.

That's one of the things that always pissed me off about being a Ranger fan. It always seemed like dirty guys weren't dirty as a Ranger, but we got it the revenge for it. Even Domi didn't do notorious dirty stuff as a Ranger.

Its dirty and a suspendable hit, no doubt. But I don't know if there is all that more to it than that. Ulfie didn't exactly have 5 hits like that per year, he laid out a handful of them maybe over his career. There where many players in the league worse than him, but Ulfie was a European who didn't back down nor fight and took a ton of heat for it.
 
I'd be open to Mess, but that might be awkward for AV, essentially grooming his replacement. Let AV bring in his own guys. We let Torts do it.

I hope Sully goes far, far away from this team.

I don't know how well a coach would take it if we say, yeah AV, we're going to hire you, but immediately dictate who else is behind your bench. He's going to have to keep Dineen (probably) and Benny Allaire (like this is even a debate), let him fill the other one or two spots as he pleases.

AV should get to choose who he brings in... First losing streak for AV with Mess as an assistant and the crowd would be chanting for AV to be fired mid game
 
bouch for pp coach would be clutch.. dunno if it'd happen though. i'd also keep sully with the defense if we don't have anybody coming with vigs (unlikely)

Dave King retired as an assistant coach in Phoenix and now works for the Coyotes in player development.
