…..Iranian ref sent him off…..

To quote the story

“Hussein did not remove his jersey -- the most common act that incurs a yellow card for "excessive celebration" -- nor did he leave the field of play, which is in fact what the Jordan players did.

He was also facing the touchline but in a position of the field where he would not have had any opponents in his line of sight, so it is also difficult to see how it might have been "unsportsmanlike conduct" -- which would have also warranted a booking.

Thus, it is understandable why Hussein and the rest of the Iraq camp looked incredulous when referee Alireza Faghani proceeded to flash a yellow at him which, given he had already been booked, meant he was sent off.

It must also be noted that none of the Jordan team were particularly offended by Hussein's replication of their celebration.”

My friend watched the match and said the second yellow was understandable and that it's fully down to Hussein being a f***ing idiot.

The celebration he mimicked didn't get a yellow, so why would he get one?

"Farcical"

Because he did it twice.. Once with his team, the ref was fine with it. Then he delayed the game further by running to a new spot, celebrating a second time on his own as everyone else was lining up to play.

Is it is a harsh decision? probably. Was the second celebration excessive? yes.

Taremi with his second yellow in bout 5 minutes. First for simulation, second for a poorly timed challenge.

Cho Wang PK equalizer for S.Korea against Australia on 96th minute, one minute left of added time. So extra time looms.

Edit: Now they lead, Son with a curved free kick from edge of the box, 103th minute.

This Korea team plays on the edge but has scored twice now in stoppage time trailing 1-0. Incredible.

They did not score in extra time against SA but scored in extra time here against a solid Australia side!

Korean TV highlights of the SA game. Observe how passionate the commentators are! Sadly the Korean stream was not working for me today.

Was that a harsh Red card on the Aussie?
It was orange, tbh. Could have gone either way & depends on the ref and game situation.

I would have rather it stayed a yellow given the circumstances and obvious lack of intent.

Probably means Klinsmann remains, but to be honest for an average coach he tends to get teams results in major tournaments, although he gets crapped on he did guide USA out of a difficult group too at the WC

Iran knocks out Japan.

Japan gave away a PK with basically the last kick of the game and that was the beginning of the end.

He can be a great leader for short projects like an international tournament, doesn't know much about modern tactics but can be exceptionally inspirational.

Klinsmann also by far is the best manager that USMNT ever had.
