I honestly can’t handle the Zegras shit anymore. I got completely on board with him being the pick with all the pre draft talk we were having.

I was obviously happy to win the lottery. The year Kakko was having was insane. But f***ing f***, how was Zegras not at minimum a consensus top 3-5 pick? It doesn’t make sense.

That’s why drafting is a crap shoot.

he was behind Hughes and Turcotte on that USNTDP team IIRC
 
Daily reminder that that's not the Zegras we would of drafted. I feel like there needs to be a sticky at the top of this board from all the green grass envy that goes on.

Be happy "they" aren't on a rival team, enjoy watching em' and dance with the date's you brought.

And remember, no one messed up more than Buffalo. Cozens is a great young kid, but Zegras was right there. Rockstar from NY, would of really softened the Eichel blow.
 
I am shocked the NHL does not have the deflection skills competition in the All-Star game. That is a skill to have if you want to score those in front of the net goals.

I believe in Kakko and his skill but you’re right. He will never live up to his potential with his confidence issues. f***. If he had Zegras’ confidence…much different player.

I mean, there’s certainly an argument for this. There’s no guarantee that Zegras’ game translates to playoff success. That said, there’s one hugely underrated aspect of drafting that gets mostly ignored by pundits and fans like us.

Entertainment.

It’s easy to forget that we watch this game for fun. Yes, winning is fun, but (for me at least) it’s not as fun as watching amazing people do amazing shit. The Islanders run last season is a perfect example. Our teams under Torts were similar.

Zegras would both fill a massive hole on this roster AND he’s just fun to watch. I care about that. The 27 in my username is there because of Kovalev. I guess it’s just in my blood.
 
I think you guys are beating yourselves up over Zegras too much. No one knew, and he went 9thOA. Everyone with 2ndOA would have drafted Kakko, well maybe with the exception of Yzerman. He does crazy shit in the draft.

Hopefully it gets more people watching Ducks games, which they could use the attention and spotlight being a smaller market team. Rangers don’t need the attention, actually could use a little less attention, imo. Maybe Kakko wouldn’t have as much pressure.

Deflection is a skill. It wouldn't be that hard to add this to the skills. Would be the skills competition more entertaining
 
Gonna predict Kreider gets ALL STAR MVP.......maybe 4 goals!

All he needs is someone to pass him the puck......should be plenty available. Then again, maybe they WON'T because they want MVP. Lol. Not like this is a "team oriented" game.
And no Fox'es to feed him, just lions.

Which is funny because hardest shot despite being the most popular is the least conducive to entertainment.

It's not like we can tell who had the hardest shot by eyeballing it. You're basically just waiting for a number on a board like a slot machine. Not much viewing value like accuracy or skill drills.
