The base of this came up in another thread and the thread I tried to propose this in just got closed so here we go.

:coyotes
Tomas Tatar (2 more years @ $4.8M)
David Schlemko (1 yr @ 2.1M)
2019 3rd round pick

:habs
Alex Goligoski (2 yrs @ $5.475M)
Richard Panik (UFA, $2.8M)
Pierre-Olivier Joseph

Habs need LHD right now and in the future. Goligoski fills a need now and Joseph brings a solid future piece. Panik is added because the Coyotes apparently want to offload his salary.

Coyotes need scoring and get a top 6 winger in Tatar. Schlemko replaces Goligoski. The pick is there because the Coyotes lose Joseph in this deal, a condition could be added to it though.

Yikes for both teams. Tatar is by far the best player here but I really like P.O. Jo as a prospect. I think both teams would rather keep what they have.

Do not want Schlemko ever again, ever. POJ projects as a top pairing dman to a middle pairing dman. We are extremely thin on d prospects outside of Dineen and PO.

Panik and goligoski I think can be had, though.

Goligoski or Mete or Reilly.... Habs need to play they young def first...

Montreal have to give experience to Mete and Reilly. No series for Habs this year, They need good draft picks.

I guess its a little light on Montreal's end?

I don't know, I can take it or leave it. Not a big Joseph fan.

Might as well swap Tatar for a pick or a LD prospect and leave the rest out of it.

I personally have no interest in acquiring a piece like Goligoski.

Not a chance we trade POJ.

Goligoski has value, Panik has some value. Tatar has value. Schlemko...well he has even less value than Panik.

Goligoski >>> 3rd
Panik > Schlemko
Tatar > POJ (but possibly not in the future)

Pretty shitty deal if you look at it like that.

I'd be happy to get Tatar and get rid of Panik, but not in this deal.

Panik for Schlemko + a 3rd? Maybe. A 2nd? Sure.

Goligoski for Tatar? Sure. Goligoski + a 3rd for Tatar? Maybe.

Sorry but none of that works for Montreal.

or POJ busts and we lose Tatar or on better pieces in a deal. Tatar is a sure thing now, why trade him for a D who didnt really progress all too well offensively last year?? I would rather aim for picks so we can choose our gamble smartly.

Feel free to keep Tatar. I'd be happy to have him, but he's not a player I desperately want. The deals above were simply value that I would be at least reasonably okay with.

POJ doubled his goals, did very well in the playoffs, and is nearly a PPG this season.

AZ has Kyle Capobianco, Dakota Mermis or Cam Dineen? I doubt they move POJ though.

Definitely can't move Joseph. Those other guys are decent to good prospects to varying degrees, and we have a few more D too a little further out. But our D prospect pool is kind of a grab bag attempt. Decent quality but more on quantity. Except Joseph.
