I don't understand why so many NHL teams hand out NTCs and NMCs to unremarkable players.
Seriously, stop doing that. The only reason this is done is that a handful of teams started doing it regularly and everyone else had to follow suit in order to compete.
It disincentivizes players from performing to their true potential and honoring their contracts. Why would they go at 100% when they are at 0 risk of being moved or replaced? What other highly paid specialist career field allows you to routinely perform at 60% of your expectations and cash in 100% of your salary?
NMCs should be for your Draisaitl/MacKinnon level players, not JT Miller.
Dumped Foegele/McLeod/Holloway/Broberg so they could sign this washed-up Arvidsson/Skinner/Henrique group. Absolutely hilarious.
