This is the second time my favourite player went to the Avs after a career in Montreal. I hope this one turns out the same and Lehky also comes back to Montreal eventually, even if he's a shell of his former self.

Go get the Cup, Avs.

To answer a few more questions I have seen:

1) Ignore the PK stats from this season. Lehkonen is a monster on the PK. He was a huge part of the MTL PK in the playoffs that was the best in the postseason. The one that was outscoring their opponents for several rounds while short handed. He has been a good PKer for years. Some of the games this season are absolute jokes. I have turned on barely started games and seen montreal down 4-0 with the other team having 6 total shots on net and 0/2 on the PK. Your best PKer will always be the goalie and there is no saving what Montreal has gone through this season with injuries and random goalies getting way too many minutes and 6th defenseman on the 1st pair.

2) I honestly think his scoring touch is under-rated. People only look at numbers and ignore usage. How many of the top point players start in the defensive zone 59.1% of the time? For most it is the opposite (high o-zone starts). He is at about 0.4 points per game career (54.5% d-zone starts) and 0.5 points per game this years (59.1% d-zone starts) while hardly getting any offensive minutes or situations. For fun, Jesperi Kotkaniemi over his four year career has averaged 0.37 PPG while getting 65.1% offensive zone starts. When your shutdown players are putting up 0.4 or 0.5 ppg while getting almost 0 offensive perks you are laughing all the way to the bank.

3) Final thing I wanted to add. This guy will play the exact same if the score is 10-0 or 0-10. When Montreal has a game where you are struggling to find a single player who is actually playing hockey he will be one of the 1-2 names you don't want to immediately fire into the sun. He will jump over the boards and bust his ass every single shift of every single game. This is part of the reason players hate getting matched up against him. He is that super smart (IQ), hard working guy who is always hounding you with relentless fore-checking and he just wont let you have a second to breathe. Skilled players absolutely hate to see him on the other side of the ice. He is an excellent skater and will have 0 issues keeping up with a fast team offensively and defensively on any line.

So far in the playoffs he has started in the offensive zone 55.3% of the time. He has 6 goals, 5 assists, 11 points in 14 games. Glad to see him doing well. He is a good offensive player. Montreal used his strength (defensive play) to plug up holes in the lineup. He wasn't awarded any offensive chances.

Disagree – Lehkonen had plenty of offensive chances with the Habs. He was always part of scoring chances but had trouble finishing. But playoff-Lehkonen is a different beast. I've been saying this for five years. He thrives in the tougher grind of the playoffs, becoming more physical and determined. He's not a great shooter, but he's relentless, and shots that would've been saved during the season are being screened or deflected now.

Anyway, he's been a fantastic pickup for the Avs and I'd love to see it continue against Tampa.

(Apologies to Avs fans – I wasn't expecting to post, but noticed a bunch of fellow Habs fans cheering on your team. Go Avs!)

I agree. However my subscription is due to renew next week and it's being uppriced from $54 to $75 a year. So I am going to cancel and hope I can get a better deal than that somehow..
I cancelled twice so far and waited for a good deal to resubscribe each time.

Last deal I got was $9.99 for a full year.

No way I'd pay $75 a year.

Ya just wait it out a bit and they'll send you a better offer. I paid $30 for my year.
Exactly. These days computers collect the data of people who didn't subscribe again and automatically send an offer (most likely) and you will get an discount or their support will ask what was wrong and you can say it was bit too expensive and then they will throw you discount. Easy game.

When you try to cancel it'll try to keep you with lower prices. I'm on a $20/yr subscription. Not sure how, but I'll ride it as long as I can. Great content.

When MacKinnon sees this video Lehkonens Colorado career is OVER:

Two Finnish chocolate bars in his pocket. His father brought from Finland.

The food cop MacK won't like this.

Rest of the article:

Rantanen talks about MacKinnon and his dedication. He is very demanding. Training, diet etc.

I'd understand the chocolate thing better if Rants and Lehk were from Switzerland or Belgium. Although I'll admit that chocolate in the US in general does suck (looking at you Hershey).
