Kinkaid blows. If Bergy never overpaid for him he'd be playing in Europe. Should there really be this many 'if's' heading into the next season?

We'll see. They're banking on a rebound year from Kinkaid. If not, we'll have to hope one of our guys in the AHL can be called up.

I don't see the Mason buyout, he counts against the cap this year.

It's there, look at the top. It's cap friendly, it's automatically counted.

Buyouts

  • Steve Mason: $1,366,667
Buried

  • Matthew Peca: $225,000 ($1,300,000)
  • Karl Alzner: $3,550,000 ($4,625,000)
  • Dale Weise: $1,275,000 ($2,350,000)
  • Mike Reilly: $425,000 ($1,500,000)

He was bad last year but that's because he played 41 games on one of the worst teams in the league. Playing 20 games on a better team and he should have around a .910-.915 SV% which is very solid for a backup.

I wonder what Rutherford is thinking about the Tanev contract when he sees our two contracts from today

Kotkaniemi has 2.5 million in possible bonuses built into his contract, does that have to be taken into account within this years cap ?

Still have 8 or so million after the 3 guys get demoted
Let down of a summer. Oh well. At least bergy doesn’t have to stick around for arbitration hearing and gets a long vacation
The summer is far from over....there will be still some changes yet to come. This isn't the final roster.

I had him and Armia at 4.5 combined. Whatever
Cap space isn’t the problem. Talent is. As of now this line up is out of the playoffs
Maybe the team can play a few games first before bouncing them out of the playoffs.....sheesh. So many negative nellies on here.Last year they missed by a point or two.

And they’ve made no improvements while teams behind us have. My opinion

Lehk couldn't have a had a rougher, snake-bit, low confidence year. I fully expect him to bounce back and break 20 this year while providing a good defensive game.
He had a very difficult year production wise but I still have hope he can become a 20-20 guy.
Also he went to the playoffs only once so that's a small sample but he did very well. I value that in a player.

My understanding is that it has an impact on next year's cap if he reaches his bonuses. I am not 100% sure though.

He had a difficult year goal-scoring wise. Production wise, he had his best in his three years in the league.

If I'm not mistaken, if a team doesn't have enough room on the cap once bonuses are reached, they carry over to the following season.

Habs have improved in the backup goal position and defense should be a bit tighter as well. Some new young forwards may make the team as well. There will still be changes made.I won't pass judgement until just before game one of the season to see what we potentially have.

Lets hope Lek makes this deal look like the steal of the century. If he can eve improve on his rookie year where he had 18 goals this will be a great contract. He has a few seasons under his belt the next 2 years are a great time for him to break out.
