Artemi Panarin, MSG reached settlements with Rangers employee after sexual assault allegation

Unfortunately, they have some fans who’ve been wanting to get rid of him and are just using this as further ammunition - I have my doubts that they truly appreciate the gravity of the situation.

If this was “Gabe”, I’m not sure we’d be seeing the same reaction from certain fans.
As a father of 3 daughters I couldn’t imagine sharing the ice with him. He better keep his head up paying against girl dads.

I find it ridiculous "journalists" are allowed to paywall shit like this, making it even more likely people only read the title....and then bury crucial context several paragraphs down:

"There is no record of the woman reporting the incident to law enforcement. She also did not immediately alert the team. But about three months after the alleged sexual assault, she informed the team as part of an investigation into a separate incident. The team learned that the woman, whose anxiety around airplane travel was well known among team members, had shared her anti-anxiety medicine with a player who had the same issue. She was placed on paid leave pending the outcome of that investigation.

The female employee felt she was treated unfairly, according to team sources, and she then informed the team about the alleged assault."

Actual title:
Artemi Panarin, MSG reached settlements with Rangers employee after sexual assault allegation

Title if you aren't a selfish scumbag "journalist" only worried about clicks:
Properly Reprimanded Rangers' Employee alleges Artemi Panarin sexually assaulted her months earlier: Settlement Reached

Hell if I know what did or didn't happen.

The victim should have approached the police and pressed charges. This is why powerful people and prominent sports personalities get away with so much, the wealthy clubs and backers do all they can to belittle the victims and pay them off so they will just go away.
Let’s not act as if the prominent sports figures are not being constantly accused of a lot of things to get the settlement money.

Without proof and proper investigation, it’s not fair to accuse Panarin of wrongdoings as well.

Damn, happened in December of 2023?

Still blows my mind that this sort of this even happens in 2023 or even still today. What, you don't think it's coming out? You don't think that you'll eventually be held accountable? Millions of people on twitter alone have the power to ruin your life for fun if they want. You're Artemi Panarin...you make $11mil a season...you're an all-star living in NYC. You could probably bang every 10 you asked! But you feel the need to play that game and pin her down? Dude...wtf?

Very fair. There are alot of false accusations to get a quick payday in this day in age but we can't ignore the accusation as well.

Be careful bud. There's a lot of people losing their minds over the mere suggestion that going up to a guy's room after previous shady behavior wasn't the smartest thing to do.

Now, in response to your point directly, it seems a lot of people here forgot about the whole Patrick Kane "rape" case.

Or the 3 days that everybody wanted to send Ian Cole to the chair over some random faceless Twitter account with one follower making an accusation against him.

Kudos to the fans looking beyond his stardom

That has to be one of the dual Ranger-Cane fans that live in Cary, NC. They wear Ranger Jerseys for 2 games a year at Lenovo & then Canes for the other 39. Had a guy do in my row last weekend (Rags-Leafs).

Bad look for Bread and if reported story is accurate, sure paints him as a predator..

I'm only on the first page and unsure if I want to read further, but... Does the "I'm not blaming her but she should've" crowd realise that you're basically saying that men are scum and women should expect to be assaulted whenever they're alone with one? Is it really such a forgone conclusion that bad things will happen when there's a man around? Is that how you conduct yourselves in real life and that's why you think it's a reasonable expectation?

I mean, I guess I could start pre-emptively pepperspraying my male colleagues whenever I step into our break room but I think that would be frowned upon.

Do you realize that there's a difference between inviting somebody out on a private date and stealing their phone as collateral to come up to your hotel room?

The Penguins? Dude, I'd kill to have the Penguins history.

The New York Rangers are a f***ing dumpster fire and have been since World War II, with a few shining moments. Rangers and Knicks...besides New York City and playing at MSG, they also have another thing in common...I wonder what that is...
Jackets fan in Pittsburgh. It's as bad as it sounds lol

Imma try to make this simple. You can advise your daughters, sisters, kids to be safe. You can give them advice to avoid potentially dangerous situations. What you should NOT do is provide this unsoliticited advice AFTER the assault has already taken place. Obviously the victim will already know it was a bad idea because they were assaulted. They don't need a bunch of people coming out of the woodwork giving them advice on how they should have done differently.

Good:

Advising your children and women in your lives about safety so they don't put them selves in bad situations in the future.

Bad:

Going to a woman who has already been assaulted and telling them what they should have done differently in the past.

She doesn't need a lecture on what she should have done. Focus on the party who did the wrong instead of the victim.

Probably not, honestly. You at least can associate with people who talk hockey, which is probably something you wont get a lot in Columbus.

I'm a Detroit fan in northwestern Indiana... Nobody here gives a shit. Which is somehow better than the days of the Blackhawk Bandwagoners who acted like they knew something about hockey but really didn't know shit.

There's a significant difference between teaching your daughter all men are pigs and teaching your daughter not to go to a man's hotel room late at night by yourself expecting that he didn't bait you there for one reason and one reason only.
The bait was pretty clear, the sexual assault part was not.

She probably thought she was dealing with a regular, non sociopathic human that has been a co-worker and would most likely take no for an answer and not pin her down in a hotel room and sexually assault her.

Rangers are so f***ed, this guy might want to go back to russia after this, I guess he's gonna have to speak publicly, and then how others will call him out on the ice

One of those two things a person can more easily & comfortably say "No" to because it's normal behavior? Is that the difference?

True. I'm never skeptical of somebody who steals my phone to lure me back into their hotel room. :sarcasm:

Spot on! 👏

Why does it always turn into the same crap?
Saying she should have been taught to see potential dangerous situations better is not defending Panarin's actions.
Its always the same virtue signaling shit. Well you don't scream louder than me that this is the worst thing ever, so that makes me the better person!!!!
To be fair, you can't expect people to think of every possible outcome to every possible situation in real time 24/7. It's easy to criticise with hindisight but people don't have all-seeing-eyes.

Teach your daughters how to defend themselves, not how to navigate life scared of everything.

Well imagine the person who took the phone is probably acting playful rather than menacing while doing it, and also is the star employee of your workplace. Imagine you do call for hotel security or ask someone to come with you to the room and then you get complaints for giving Artemi a hard time, he was just kidding around, why are you causing a distraction for the team, etc. Now it's a career problem

Does it not seem unreasonable that going to the room and saying no is the least troublesome way to get your phone back? These are the calculations people have to make. It's likely the thought of assault did occur to her and was dismissed because it's Artemi f***ing Panarin and she was an employee of the Rangers who traveled with the team
