Krieder did have a bad preseason BUT he has really picked it up in hartford. Many who have watched the games have said kreider was the most consistent forward. I expect both miller and kreider to be up by the end of the month

W the other options in the bottom 6 I don't blame them if they try youth

Up in arms?
Yeah i'm foaming at the mouth.

You are the delusional one if you don't think Biron has the ability to play at a high level. He's had dozens of quality games on this team. Lynching him for a few bad games when the entire team minus richards is playing like **** isn't a good evaluation.

He was bad last year, he was bad in his short time this year. Nobodys lynching him, but who cares honestly. Hes an OLD backup goalie.

I like Biron and Asham, but these players don't have the sort of tenures with this team that you can afford to be sentimental about.

They both control the puck well, and they aren't detrimental with their decision making. Dorsett will often get the puck to the net in some fashion, Pouliot can be a "deke through everyone" guy or a giveaway, he's a mixed bag. Dorsett's skill set is pretty spectacular for a guy who's a 4th liner.

You're much more positive than I am in your appraisals.

Dorsett will stick. He's a heart and guts guy. We don't have enough glue guys on this team to pick and choose. He's fast, hits well, sticks up for his linemates occasionally, has a shot that seems to surprise goalies when it lands on net. That being said, he's more of a dump and chase guy, with little offensive creativity or vision, an inability to create or finish (as you would expect for a 4th line player). His primary purpose should be to forecheck, disrupt, agitate, stick up for team mates, provide energy... etc.

Point with including him on the list is that there are too many guys on this team that don't finish, don't create, can't skate, are monotonic in their roles. You can't play them all and expect to win.

Dors will stick because he's top 3 on this team in terms of 4th liners. Right now, the way I see it, we have 6 4th line players. Can't have that.

Pouloit is another one of them. Problem with him, he's not a glue guy. He's a mercenary. He was drafted with the intention of being a skill player. He can't finish, he can't create. He'll wow you with a move occasionally, but it won't lead to anything. A lot of help that does the team when they need a goal. He's frustrating to watch. Where is his head at sometimes? Why can't he finish on the doorstep... ever? Why can't he sustain drives and momentum his linemates create?

3 of these guys need to find new jobs for this team to hope to be successful.

Moore - veteran, grit, glue guy, agitator with good face off ability.
Boyle - veteran, grit, glue guy, agitator, with good board play and forechecking ability.
Dorsett - grit, glue guy, agitator, with speed and consistent hitting ability.

Pyatt - good stick handling, what else???
Pouloit - wow factor, where's the production you expect from a top 9 winger?
Asham - just got sent down due to lack of production.

1 down. 2 more to go. It's inevitable.

Given the Rangers' schedule over the next two weeks, if you see Talbot, it means Lundqvist is hurt. I can't imagine the organization sees Talbot as a long-term solution--especially in an Olympic year, where the back-up should be starting 20+ games.

I can't imagine they see him as anything right now. You're skewing your statement to make it sound that the organization views him negatively. Probably not.

He's played well in AHL. He played well during preseason. He's gotten high praise from team mates and coaches.

I imagine they give him a 2-4 game trial. If not, i'm sure they will look to give Hedberg a shot or acquire a better, more veteran back up, through trade.

We have no idea with Nash how long he could be out. Could be a week or a year, with concussions we just don't know.

I would like NYR to try to move Del Zotto to bring in a scoring forward, because Zuccarello has not been cutting it thus far.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of a move in that direction.

And then, who takes over a plays 20+ minutes on defense in place of Del Zotto? As for Zuccarello--if you're going to blame him, blame his linemates too. Bassard and Pouloit haven't been producing either.

No question. I just had high hopes for Zuccarello, which I did not for Pouliot. Brassard has not kept his level of play where it was last year with us. I forgot to mention him but it has been noticeable.

For MDZ, I have made no secret that I am a big fan of John Moore. I'd bump his minutes and bring in Conor Allen as the 6th defenseman.

Still, there is an asterisk attached. One of my concerns about AV was that Torts system may have coddled our blueliners and made them appear better than they are. It could be that guys like Moore and Girardi looked as good as they did because of the system we played. Keeping that in mind, management has to be cautious.

If the Ranger organization thinks this is just a bump in the road and is not the wheels coming off, then they shouldn't mess around with a backup goalie who has no NHL experience. And given that the Rangers only play 4 games in the next two weeks, I don't expect whomever is the backup to get any playing time, unless Lundqvist needs to be relieved during a game again.

AV didn't want Biron from the get-go. Hedberg was never an option (is he even playing somewhere now?), he never even got a minute of playing time in pre-season. But, Sather has always discounted the backup goaltender position, so who knows what's going to happen.

Sounds great--if the organization is going to give up on the season (not this early). Moore has shown nothing so far to suggest he would thrive with more ice time and AV has not shown very much interest in playing him more than 15 minutes/game. And I really question why Allen should get the call-up--he's just starting his NHL career and there is no reason why he should be rushed: especially when the rest of the defense is having so much trouble adjusting to the new system.

It's a mighty big asterisk.

Brassard needs finishers on his line. Pouliot and MZA do not qualify. They are not top six wingers on a good team.

Brassard is going to want 4.5-5 million dollars for his next contract. I hope the Rangers are not the team to give him that. Would rather trade him for someone who can finish on their own and move Richards back to 2C temporarily.

Brass is an rfa, he's not getting anywhere near that amount of money

They'll qualify him at 3.7, then the negotiations will go on from there. It's too soon to tell. If he plays like he did at the end of the season, I could see him getting 4.5, if not, then who knows if he gets more than just a 1 year qualifier.

So any news on who the forward is going to be that is promoted? Or who they are leaning towards promoting?

The team is in a tough spot right now. I am surprised by the Asham move. I thought he was fine when he played. Biron....the writing was on the wall imo. You can't give up goals the way he did in the blues game. That game summed up his play the past two years. It has tailed off.

Cam is 26, and is after showing he can play the game at the NHL level even at a small sample size which is what we need. A competent backup who can be relied upon.

I'm very comfortable with this move.

Bring him up to stay, it's time. You can't keep in the A forever.

I'll give you that, I do try to be more positive than the average poster . But anyway, Pouliot is frustrating right now. It's not like he's being lazy, or not trying, just he is in a line where he's destined to fail. Too many passers, no one will shoot. These lines need some serious work. I'm not sure how I feel about Pouliot, really.

He's supposed to be the shooter. I've never seen a line get so many chances that amounted to nothing. Pouliot himself has squandered many opportunities gifted by Brassard and Zuccarello. Smith, Quick, Niemi, Hiller, Halak is a tough way to start the season, but he has to start finishing.

Pouliot is a 3rd liner when the team is 100 % (if that ever happens) with the chances hes been getting, I'm loving the idea of him being in our bottom 6. Those will go in eventually.

Or, hes Chris Higgins. I guess its possible he could be as snakebitten.

JT Miller belongs at center. Bring him up and put him in the middle. Not on the wing. Play him or let him play in the AHL.

Seriously, this. I have no idea why the hell they keep putting this kid at wing, it is SUCH a waste. He's clearly more effective at the center position.

Oh wait, I actually have an idea why. This organization is full of clowns. No, that can't be it...Sather will lead us to the promised land :p: Blah this team has me pissed right now.

No insider stuff here, but I could see us signing both Prospal and Bryz for cheap, dumping Pyatt (for Tootoo??) and eventually bringing up one of Haley or Mashinter. Talbot and Miller might be temporary callups first

Love Prospal! Is he an UFA?
