News Article: Around the NHL

So nice of the NHL to postpone all games that start the 22nd until the 25th.

Lets us play our game against the Lightning on the 21st.

A game i think has a strong possiblity of being complete trash for the Knights.

Back home after a 4 game road trip where they won all of them.

Stone possibly injured

Playing against the back to back stanley cup champions.

Yep, this will most likely be a bloodbath. lol

^We’ve done really well against them when I expected a loss in the past. But yeah my expectations aren’t much for this game with Tampa being on a roll.

I am surprised by this, since resale tix have gone for the lowest prices of any season, and we have seen plenty of empty seats in most games we have attended.

Those numbers in that tweet are for sold tickets. Most of the empty seats are stubborn season ticket holders that would rather not sell their tickets than sell them for whatever they can get. I always check lower bowl seats on my way to the game to see if there are any great deals close to the ice and most of the time those lower bowl prices never change much. One time in season one I got a seat on the glass for $100, but I haven't found anything like that since.

I've had to seriously discount a few games this year near the start of the game. Haven't had to eat any though.

I got a glass seat ticket to the first LAK @ VGK for $140. It was so last minute that my wife dropped me off to the game, and as I walked in, the stadium shook from the roar of the first goal scored.

Speculation as to where WJC in Dec 2022-Jan 2023 might be held. Sweden, Canada, US? Perhaps Vegas, who has expressed desire to host future events? (No shortage of hotel rooms. Could have games at TMobile, Orleans and/or TDLC.)

Might be a tough squeeze with New Years and then CES crowd next year. I'm not sure it's a good market for this tournament attendance wise as most people in the Southwest have little exposure to junior hockey, but I could see them wanting to give it a shot.

I think at this point it's more an issue of available hotel rooms, international airport and usable rinks. MGM (owner of adjacent properties to TMobile), Station (owner of Green Valley Ranch nearby TDLC) and/or Boyd (owners of The Orleans) could provide "fixed" rate for WJC attendees.

It may not be a "BIG" WJC event given a lot of buildup and hype, but could be successful. I can imagine every NHL team would have 2 or more scouts in attendance, Canadians and Scandinavian country fans may enjoy a relatively warmer winter (probably no snow) break.

Any New Year's games would have to be completed by 4pm (so no later start than noon-ish) if held at TMobile due to LVB closure for NYE. (I guess you could have a later game, but the traffic would be crazy to get out as the "back" road is the alternate when LVB gets closed.) If later games were at The Orleans Arena or TDLC arena, those would not be as impacted by NYE revelers.
