Around the NHL - The 2025 NHL Playoffs Thread

Wonder if Peca will shake loose now ?
I don’t see why anyone would let the greatest assistant coach in the history of the game slip through their fingers. I’ve been told had we brought him up to Buffalo all our problems would have been solved…and in no way did the Amerks improve and Rangers decline within two years of his switching spots.

Do you think he would be interested in splitting time between Coach and GM? Gotta make sure we don’t see a guy who hit people in our jersey in SD highlights making absolutely no quantifiable positive difference whatsoever on another bench! And when you have a resume that reads “Appert assistant on an unstructured AHL team that learned a lot more in one offseason of Leone” and “had a front row seat to the Rangers becoming a toxic environment and league laughing stock” you have to act fast.

If he’d have been captain of the Ducks with his coaching accomplishments…would we EVER hear his name here?

Sportsnet pointing out how Greene pulls Cozens off the ice when he sees Matthews coming on. Statement was more pro pinto than anti cozens, but it's striking difference compared to expectations here

Didn't really like the goals Ullmark has given up. Feels like goaltending has been the difference so far.

Refs in the Leafs/Senators game are awful. They deprived us of a truly Great Moment in Leafs History...because apparently the Leafs accidentally listed Alex Nylander as active and William Nylander as scratched, but a ref noticed it before the game and alerted the team (which is what they're supposed to do) so they could fix it.

Why couldn't the refs just be a little more incompetent?

lol. You can’t be serious….

Just tuning into the Leafs game, and both teams look really sloppy.

Ottawa has a really good forecheck. If we had a forecheck like that we'd be in the playoffs easily.

Ottawa with some bad turnovers in their D zone. Cozens the cause of one. Geez.

Double awful defense by Ottawa. First giving up the odd man rush…then Domi beats three guys behind the net for the puck and they score.

Darn, at the end of the day Ottawa just had way less skill than Toronto. Ullmark didn't have his best series either.

Our old friend Cozens loses his man for the go ahead goal.

Granted on the 3rd goal he was sort of caught because he didn't want to abandon the guy right in front of the net before the defenseman got there

Seeing Sens fans shitting on Cozens is bittersweet..

It sucks because I do love Cozens and think he's a great teammate and hard worker

But on the flip side, it's nice seeing Sens fans realizing Cozens has a lot more flaws and isn't as good as they originally thought..
It confirms what most of us watched for the last 2 seasons and one of the reasons that the team played better after his departure. I really wanted to like Cozens, considered getting his jersey, but the man is a liability on the ice.

I wish the guy they got back was healthy…because no one questions his game the way we do Cozens…but, also…I’m not apologizing for being happy Cozens isn’t on my team anymore. I don’t want to watch him play in our jersey for many reasons. From standing there when Dahlin gets mugged to bobbling easy passes to shooting the least dangerous places to…ever having to defend. There was no angle where keeping him made sense to me. You want to get tougher? He doesn’t help. You want to get smarter? He doesn’t help. You want to get harder to play against? He doesn’t help.

McLeod and Kulich both did his job better and neither should honestly be able to or be put in position to have to.

Team played better IMO with Cozens and Jokiharju not on the ice. Now we need to identify some other other dead weight and get rid of them too.
