Watching the Canes machine and seeing a fourth line of Robinson-Jankowski-Carrier with Chatfield on the blueline. :I
I see Rachel still on the hockey beat-
Seems some teams will let their goalie coach go when they aren't good.
We seem to be losing an edge in all position because of lazy nepotism.
Are they still think they can make it with manly video scouting?
Why aren’t they investing in the obvious?
Watching Carolina and you just see overwhelming evidence of the impact of coaching. They have some really good players, but they also squeeze the most out of everyone. Sabre throw-away 4th liners Jankowski and Robinson, dominated zone time in OT.That OT looked like a game where the mites play the dads.

I’m a broken record on this I realize, but every day that we delay trying to find our Brind’Amour, DeBoer, Cassidy, Montgomery, is just a lost opportunity. The future is not Adams, Ruff, Appert.
Listening to TML fans on their board, they seem to be done with Matthews' disappearing act every playoffs.Has anyone checked to see if Matthews jersey was wet after these games? What a no-show he is. He looks so lethargic out there. All of the core deserves their blame, but he always sticks out the most to me. Honestly, I think Nylander brings it the most consistently. His contract isn't bad, either. If there ever was a shake-up in Toronto- he'd be someone I'd target.
Edit: Two Leafs stats I've read that may brighten your day during these dark times as a Sabres fans.
In elimination games the Leafs are 1-14 AND are 0-for-30 on the Power Play. Man, those are sickening stats.

That's a massive downgrade for Toronto for sure. So I'm down for that. It's going to be interesting to see that they do with Tavares and Marner being UFAs. That's part of the reason why I think they stick with Austin at the end of the day.I softly floated the idea of a.m. for EP in the game day thread on the mains last night. Each team moves on from their marquee center to get a fresh start elsewhere.
Watching any of the successful teams in the playoffs, it just cements my opinion that Buffalo is building around the wrong type of "Player Hockey DNA". Sure they are talented, but I question if they have the punch back necessary to do anything. There might be 3 core players that I could see that happening.Watching Carolina and you just see overwhelming evidence of the impact of coaching. If Toronto seriously tries to (or does) re-sign Marner.......that will say VOLUMES about what the Toronto hierarchy prioritizes.Honestly, I think they need to shuffle at least half of the four of the core out the door. There is just no compete there. There’s no anger at losing. There’s just Nylander half ass on back checks and Auston throwing blind passes back to his own offensive line.
We'd be drooling to have a team like that, playing with balls. Besides...it's TB and they f-ing deserve it.They do seem to revel in it. Buffalo of course clutches their pearls and continues to not be a serious team in the division.

What I never understood about the re-building years was the lack of having guys that just want to go out and play with passion. If that doesn't mean scoring or winning with passion, it could at least mean checking/hitting/defending with passion. That could be done on the cheap to fit the "efficient" narrative and still keep the fans engaged, but nah...One of the things about Pegula being an outsider is how the appeal of actual hard working hard nosed hockey is so universally desired by Sabre fans and yet they conspicuously lean away from it.
