Around the NHL - The 2025 NHL Playoffs Thread

Everyone at work (in Manhattan) is acting he’s already a Ranger.

That could be. I've heard the Bruins may also be interested in him since he's a Boston area native. Crazy that the Rangers seem to have a 2 year limit on coaches these days. I would think some of the vets who were not happy with Drury will be moved this summer now that Drury got that extension.

Coaching strategy with Jim Hiller:

"With a lead heading into the 3rd period, adopt a penalty kill posture and mindset. Everybody behind the center line. No forechecking allowed. Neutralizes overrated slugs like McD and Drai."

In addition to that lunacy, there's his braindead goal challenge in Game 3. If the Oilers win this series he's gotta be a goner.

Kings' fans are rightfully livid.

Hiller reviewing video on the bench for that.

That must have been the advice given to him, but he has the final say, and it seemed so obviously a poor risk when the Oilers get a PP if they're wrong.

Like, did he forget who they were playing?

I couldn't see how they should have taken that gamble at all. If someone in the booth said yes to the challenge, they should walk home.

I'd give that guy a pass.

We've all seen challenges where on replay I'm thinking "yup, that's definitely coming back", the officials take 5+ minutes to review with the Situation Room, endless more replays from multiple angles that all confirm my opinion, and then ... "we have a good goal!"

That's what irks me. They waste time on a review that detracts from one of the most entertaining aspects of the sport - near continuous action - only to get it wrong anyway. Laughable.

So - Panthers and Lightning - who you like tonight and who you cheering for?

Who's going to tangle with Tkachuk for his hit on Guentzel?
