GDT: Around the NHL - Playoff Edition

He almost cost them the game in the first period, only to come up big after that. Furthermore, it would have been all for naught if they don't tie it with 1.6(!) seconds left.
There's no question Perfetti might have saved him from getting run out of town lol

And like, how do you have confidence in him after that series? I can't imagine what Scott Arniel is thinking.
You don't, just have to hope that the Hellebuyck in the third period/OT that seemed more normal sticks around. Unfortunately they have to worry about all their best players being injured primarily anyway haha

And now the Jets get to face a Stars team now with Heiskanen and Robertson.
Stars to me have all the pressure. They’re a squad that usually goes deep in the playoffs and paid a f***ton for Rantanen. Jets meanwhile, needed to exercise their demons of finally winning a playoff series.

Since they got their team back, they’ve won 3 playoff series and have been out in the first often. This year I think the fact that they rallied back when a team like that should and has it in them and desperately needed players to step up, they fought back.

I see the Jets going past the Stars to f*** up the Vegas Golden Turds.

What is it with Jim Montgomery and being up 3-1 with a chance to end a series?
He took over a Blues that wasn’t meant to be in the playoffs. For a coach that took over a team that needed work before and after he took over, with that roster, he can’t be mad at all. Game 7 loss for a team like that is good either way.

Arniel keeping him in was him saying - We got this far with you, it’s your time to show everyone what you are capable of. To not pull him was that vote of confidence and Helly needed that, he didn’t face as much as Shittington but after the 3rd goal, the Jets went on a full on block everything mode and Helly just needed to lock it down when it did get to him and he did.

That is huge for him. I think whatever issues he has vs the Blues, not getting yanked and letting him battle it out, has him back on track.

Maybe don't play Suter or Buchnevich when the opponent has pulled their goalie next time. Montgomery's teams seem to have a penchant for such dramatic failures. Perhaps they should trade for Bryan "empty net goals" Rust to make sure it doesn't happen again. :)

Connor has come a long way from his early days of playoff underperformer. Perfetti the hero.

I felt bad for Binnington for a moment then remembered what a clown he is.

That series is totally different than the one against the Panthers. It was almost reversed. I mean yes, the Blues let it get away (to a degree), but the trying goal was fortuitous IMO.
