It’s funny to see so many vacancies for coaching in the NHL this year. When was the last time there were 7 head coaching jobs up for grabs heading into the off season? That number could also rise as well as other teams wrap up their year end reviews and decide they want to go that route as well. There are rumours Trotz wants to blame his epic failure as a GM on Andrew Brunette so he could be a casualty and if DeBonehead blows the Avs series, he could probably be on the unemployment line too.
But anyone have any predictions on where the coaches end up?
Anaheim - Mitch Love - he’s the kind of coach that could get Zegras back on track, smart, great with young players, and has a good defense foundation for their young studs on D.
Boston - I think they might look at Quinn, not sure why but I have a weird feeling he ends up there.
Chicago - Woodcroft, his defensive structure and forecheck could be what Bédard needs to thrive and take that next step.
New York - Sullivan, pretty obvious.
Philadelphia - Tocchet, closer to his son (goes to RPI in NY, or he takes the Assistant gig so he can spend more time in NY and reunite with Sullivan)
Pittsburgh - No clue, honestly I wish for Carle as I have for a while, but as long as it’s not Quinn, Vellucci, Quenneville, or any retread trash like Lavi, GG, etc
Seattle - Nelson
Vancouver - Quenneville (yuck, JR is stupid enough to)
DeBoer is Colorado's kryptonite and Oettinger is money in the playoffs. Also, Makar is doing his 2025 Kris Letang impersonation for some reason.
Florida is such a good team... and so disgustingly dirty too. Their commentators are terrible homers too. They were flabbergasted that Mikola got a major penalty and totally excused Ekblad's head-hunting hit too. Not that Tampa are saints, mind you but in this particular series one team has gotten a huge help from the zebras and it's not them. Too bad their PP looks like ours last season, so Florida is fine even when the refs aren't being blind on purpose.
I mean, for a couple of games it didn’t seem that way at all. I still think Colorado can come back and win that series, I am not a fan of Pete DeBoner at all though.
