McD definetely outplaying Hedman but then again there are rumors that Hedman requires surgery after the PO's.

Fixed it.

Dead puck 2.0 is upon us.

We just had someone drop over 100 points in 56 games. The last thing we are heading towards is a dead puck era. The players will force the league to make the calls needed at some point, especially with them heading to ESPN. They want to grow the game and they are going to want their stars playing late in the year on a national stage.

They need to do something about the playoffs. No reason teams like Montreal and NYI should be having this much success when they are just average in the regular season and in Montreal's case shouldn't have even made it. Their style of play is poisoning the game, and forcing exciting teams like the Lightning to play the same way to win.

I really don't like this line of thinking. If a team is successful, they are successful. The game last night was exciting.

That is asinine. The Islanders deserved to be there. They played their asses off, beat a very good Boston team and took Tampa to 7 games.

Montreal? Completely agree. They are only there because of playing in a shitty Canadian division. They don't deserve to be in the SCF because they didn't deserve to make the PO's.

See what you made me do here? You made me defend the Islanders.

What should they do? If you cannot compete with skill and speed you have to play your angles and take to the boards.

Only thing i can think of is the league should make the goals larger. Which still might not benefit skill but you could see more scoring by both sides.

I'm worried we will see a sweep. Montreal looked totally outmatched. Reminded me of the old days when the East won almost every finals series easily.

SOLVED: Make the rinks narrower, keep only the slot area so all shots are high danger

Are we really going to criticize the Piles for being a carbon copy of Torts Rangers?

They work with what they have..
We were the black and blue shirts 6 goalie system who got worn down in the playoffs getting hammered over and over. The Islanders play a completely different style. They play extremely tight defensively with great angles and board play and press the puck carrier while blocking the obvious passing lanes. They then wait for the opposition to press and force a pass into a skate or for the opposition to overcommit players on the attack in the O zone or NZ and then quickly spring their wingers on breakaways and odd man rushes. It has the advantages of Man 2 Man D without shitty defense leaving guys open in the slot. It can be boring to watch if you're not a fan of the team but if you are an Islanders fan all those high quality chances they get are for sure exciting.

not saying the teams themselves should stop trying to get the most out of what they have, but the fact that its so much more effective in the playoffs than in the regular season means the playoffs are called too differently (which we all know is true).

After kreider and trouba deal (I know pre covid contracts) the Rangers really need to start signing guys who are already here to a bit more team friendly deals. After seeing the very Team friendly deal RNH got from the Oilers

Watching McD, it's like he's 23-25 years old again. Mobile, quick, fast decision-making.
