Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

I'm getting the feeling the officiating is going to be the most abysmal shit we've ever seen next round.

So why didn't the Rangers think Kris Knoblauch a NHL coach again? This organization cant scout talent at any level of hockey if it's players, management and coaching
I don't think we didn't think he could coach, otherwise we wouldn't have given him the AHL job.
We had Lavi signed and weren't ready to move on from him at the start of last season.
I guess we could have told Kris we wouldn't release him, but that would have been a major dick move...

They're not as good as they think they are.
They had the easiest road to the ECF of anyone else I can remember. NJ was toothless and Washington was always a paper tiger.

They need a better goalie and more skill. Too many plumbers and not enough talent to finish their chances. Ironically, they needed a Rantanen.

Weird, their coach literally just said he didn't think they would make the playoffs at the start of the season. Seems they overachieved compared to what they thought they were. Even weirder for an nyr fan to critique it ha
Brind'Amour said that TODAY. He didn't say it in September.

They've pretty much had the same team for the past four seasons.

He's saying that to create a narrative that they "overachieved".

It's fair to have a lot of uncertainty when you start a season with losing
* Teravainen
* Skjei
* Noesen
* Guentzel
* Fast
* Pesce
That's like 30% team turnover. And the GM goes out and signs Jack Roslovic, William Carrier. They looked towards Bradly Nadeau, Eric Robinson, and Jackson Blake as replacements. Maybe Rod just did not have faith in his youngsters.
Gostisbehere and Walker were decent signings to replace Pesce and Skjei.

They also have a big problem in being able to attract free agents.

One, it's not a real attractive place to play. Two, at one time 15 years ago, older, married guys with kids could be attracted based on it being a good place to raise a family. The area now is expensive, almost NY expensive with half the amenities. Three, they'll have to overpay for anyone.

You're talking about Raleigh? I've been there to see the Rangers, the last time was in '23 playoffs game two I think it was. There is NOTHING around there. I can't imagine anyone wanting to play there. The town is nothing!
