Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

Why was Sam Steel a first round pick? He was highly regarded at the draft by the Ducks but he just ended up being a 4th line replaceable center. Awful scouting

For all their skill, the Oilers make a fair few defensive mistakes, which is why I think they'll struggle to get past Florida again. the Cats will cause even more errors, and they'll capitalize on them too

And the trip?

Please check that these refs aren’t using rat holes to bet on this.
What is the rule there? Nurse (i think it was) lost his edge and was sliding along the ice, and kept sliding into the Stars player. Is that normally called and meant to be called? Or is it deemed 'accidental'

I don't really know where the Stars go from here. They already made a huge move with Rantanen. Perhaps move on from Benn and Seguin. Should be interesting.
Benn will be a UFA I’d let him walk if I was Dallas. Old and slow, I know he’s the captain but they gotta move on from him. Seguin is old and slow too but still has 2 years left.

Is that what it was? I thought I saw a stick get caught between the legs, causing the Stars player to fall, but I could be wrong. In any event, if I’m not mistaken, if you go down to block a shot and your opponent trips over you, it’s a penalty — once upon a time I think the rule was that there’s no penalty if contact is made with the puck first. Maybe we can draw from that? Not sure.
