The Shesterkin contract sickens me to the point of making it considerably more difficult to root for the team. I will never support it and anything short of a SC MVP will not justify it. Shit, honestly that still may not justify it. Maybe two.

Benn is a turtle. Robertson is a non-NHL caliber skater. It’s utterly wild the success he’s had skating like a club college player. And it’s not all foot speed because some of their guys can move but they aren’t playing fast, just like us.

Goalies drive Cinderella stories; skaters win the cups. Osgood isn’t Osgood without Fedorov, Stevie, Nicky, etc. Fleury is nothing without Sid, Gino, Kris, etc. I would even argue that Brodeur isn’t Brodeur without the trap, the two Scotts and Elias / Sykora. Carolina didn’t win their Cup because of Irbe or Ward. You need a hot goalie — not an elite one. I’d say Bob and Roy are the exceptions (but they too won on stacked teams).

I’m fine with people complaining about the deal but acting like it’s some death kneel to this squad is off base

It’s up to our dummy GM to find value in other areas while paying Igor what he will be making

Honestly can't wait to get the playoffs over with so we can see what the hell happens with our team. Watching teams like Florida and Edmonton is fun but also depressing in a way. It's depressing because even in our "good" years, we never looked as good as any of these teams. We are just so far behind the elite teams in the league and it's sad. There is a lot of work to do and i really hope our guys wake up and play some decent hockey next year. This was the worst season in a while.

There is absolutely no one who thinks Bobrovsky was a good contract or that he’s the reason for Florida’s success. I didn’t say it’s a death knell. I said I hate the contract and the decision to give it so much that it makes it harder for me to root for us.

Colorado would have been a better matchup for Edmonton. I think Colorado, Edmonton and Florida are the best teams in the league and we’re miles behind.
