Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

Knoblauch getting a cup would be funny

they are the team to beat imo. It may be their year

Think Dallas presents some real problems for them but this may just be a situation where McDrai just won’t be denied. I’ve been really impressed with how they’ve handled Vegas collectively and that bodes well for them with any potential opponent.

There's something about the Panthers I don't think I can discuss w/o getting an infraction because of the nature of story.

Yes, please don't post anything. Just google it if you are curious. But don't post it here.

Krav getting a cup gonna be funny too.
He's just started in the final series.
He's done very little in terms of contribution to this run partially excused because of getting injured (and missing games) at some point. Otherwise I'm very impressed with Shabanov - 20 (what seems like always key) points in 17 games... (if only he wasn't 5'8").

P.S. I was able to catch a few games of the playoffs. Those saying that the quality of the league is down don't know what they are talking about.

I don't want to see the Leafs get that far, but you're right. Every bar would be full of people glued to the screens.

And it wouldn't be all Leafs fans. Maybe like 60/40 in favour.
Do you think tourist demand would spike in the Maritimes because of this or would it just be business as usual?

It probably wouldn't have any effect on the actual numbers of tourists, but I imagine it will have an impact on where some of them are spending their time and money! George Street would probably get a huge bump during every game night.

Did you remove and forget the part about playoffs?
You didn't say nuffin 'bout the playoffs.
And I remember watching some cup games about two years back - the Eastern finals Kazan vs Omsk. Been a pretty sad spectacle. Not sure why things would have improved in any way since then.

And even if I didn't have a scooby about the state of KHL, both current finalists have given up 4 games each in three series. I don't have time for entertaining someone who's talking that league up sorry.

Didn't you start this with Kravtsov being in the Gagarin Cup final TODAY (!!!) or your short memory brain completely shot off?

I watched this year's playoffs and these games were really good in terms of quality and intensity.

I’m torn between Dallas and Edmonton being my pick. Heiskanen supposedly in tonight. Ekholm nearing a return for Edmonton.

I actually think - as much as I hate it - Carolina is coming out of the East this year. But Dallas or Edmonton takes all.

I think Carolina gets stomped by either Toronto or Florida.

Go Stars

I'm only like 50% serious but I want EDM to lose so there's a chance McDavid ditches the org to go UFA.
But also go Minnesota South Stars! If the Stars can win a cup with Cody Ceci, we should be able to win one with Carson Soucy.

I still think FLA/TOR is going to the finals. Metro division in considerably weaker than the other ones. Any year we play in that bracket, there's a chance to go to the conference finals.

Think Carolina can take Toronto but they'll lose to Florida.

Best they can do is make them play a few extra games to empty that tank a bit more for who ever comes out of the west.
