Have to give Dallas management a lot of credit. A lot of people were burying Rantanen a few months ago. Saying Colorado won the deal by far. Many posters on HF said they wanted nothing to do with the guy and were against trading for him.

I think most of us were against giving him a huge 8 year deal, not that we didn't like his game. Stockholm syndrome from Panarin.

I may have been one of those folks who said that. To be fair I think it was a legit concern....that Rantanen quickly dispelled. We'll see if it holds long term.

Will Smith took a while before he was able to provide consistent contribution in SJ. His ATOI slowly ramped up throughout the season from ~13 min/game to 19+ min/game.
I suspect those two both will need similar ramp up time.
